Review of the Swagman Original 3 Bike Rack

Today we'll be taking a look at the Swagman Original Hang Style Original 3 Bike Rack for 2 inch receivers, part number S64152-2. The Swagman Original is going to be great for 3 bikes ranging from sizes of your mountain bikes, road bikes, children's bikes, even your women's bikes or alternative frame bikes. It's going to be great for your cars, trucks, SUV's, even your RV's and trailers. The Swagman Original is going to have that sturdy steel construction and a nice premium powder coat finish to resist a lot of the rust and corrosion that you'll see out on the road. These vinyl cushions are going to be great for clamping on the top of your bike to and the bottom as as well as leaving grooves and space for all your cables on the bottom side. This rack is going to have a few nice features as far as security goes. You're going to have a 5/8 inch hole here on top where you can insert any sort of padlock that you may have. We have one laying around here so let's go ahead and see how that looks.

You can also get a locking hitch pin or anti-rattle bolt for the back side here that's going to be part number S64027. Just to give you an idea how this rack is going to fit with your vehicle, we'll get a measurement from the center of the pin hole to the front side of the rack where the tube goes up. It's going to be about 13 7/8 inches. Keep that in mind with your spare tires and any other accessories that you may have on the back of your vehicle. Just keep in mind when using this on you fifth wheels or any of your trailers, if you're going to have a receiver on the back end of that, you're going to want to have at least 15 inches of ground clearance on the back side. That's going to be from the ground to the bottom side of the shank. The Swagman Original is going to have a limited lifetime warranty through the manufacturer. Now that we've gone over some features, let's take a look at how it's installed. First take your 2 inch shank and insert it into your 2 inch receiver.

Once we have our pin holes lined up, we'll then take our anti-rattle bolt, which is going to be a 7/8 inch socket or size and place it through and thread it in. This anti-rattle bolt is going to pull the side of the shank against the side of the receiver, tying our shank in with the vehicle suspension and giving you a nice solid ride. Once we have our anti-rattle bolt tightened up, we'll check and make sure that we have everything in place and place our clip on the end. Now well go ahead and load up some bikes on our new Swagman rack. First think we'll need to do is go ahead and turn the thumbscrews or dials on the top an pull them off once we have them off, we'll go ahead and lift off the top plate so we can expose the nice vinyl cushions to lace our bikes on. Now we'll go ahead an load up our bikes. Placing our first bike on which is going to be a road bike. Our next bike will be mountain bike and you can alternate the handle bars so that you don't have them bumping against each other.

You'll see that when you line up our handle bars on the other side of the tire, that way they sit nice on our rack and they're not pushing against each other and forcing each other off the rack. Just make them so they accommodate each other nicely, like so. Our next bike is going to be a girl's bike. We're going to be using the Swagman Bike Adapter, part number 64005. This bike adapter bar is going to be perfect for your women's bikes, child's bikes and even your alternative frame bicycles. Now with our bikes loaded up, we will then take our plate that we pulled off and place it back over the top of our frames. Once you've done so, then take your thumb screws and place them back over the top and thread them down to secure the bikes in place. With our bike now secure, let's take it out on our test course and see how the new Swagman Original performs. Here on our slalom, this will simulate side to side action as going around corners or making basic maneuvers. Now on to our alternating speed bumps.

This will simulate the twisting action of going over uneven pavement or through potholes. Finally, our solid speed bumps that will simulate going over a curb or out of parking lot. That's going to complete today's look at the Swagman Original Hang Style 3 Bike Rack for your 2 inch receivers, part number S64152-2.

You would need something like this Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes # 64005 . Make sure to check all the specks and see if your bike is right for it. Your ebike may be to heavy. If that is the case Let me know what type of bike you have and I can find some other suggestions for you.
