Review of the Swagman Roof Bike Racks on a 2015 Hyundai Sonata

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Hyundai Sonata, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Race Ready Roof Bike Rack, part number S64705. We already have a bike installed on our race. Let's take a closer look, and show off some of the features. How the bike attaches to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact with no frame contact at all. So for people that have the carbon frame bikes, this works out really well, because instead it grips it by the front wheel. And because it does that, you don't have to remove the front wheel, like you would with the skewer mounts. We also have two wheel straps on either side.

They are adjustable along the bike rack, to accommodate bikes of different sizes, as well as this point here that holds front tire in. That's also adjustable to accommodate bikes of different sizes as well. With everything installed as it is, we're not going to have any issues of clearance between the truck, and the bike rack, as there's plenty of space in between.Let's go ahead and take the bike off. We'll start with the straps here. You push the top portion of this notch in, which will release it.

We also have rim protectors here, to protect the wheels as well. Then holding onto the bike, we'll release our wheel hook by pushing in this button, and pushing up. To put it in place, you simply pull down, and it will ratchet into place. Come forward, and lift the bike up and off. When the bike is off, everything folds flat, and out of the way. How this attaches to the roof rack, we'll have this bracket at the front, and the four turn knobs.

Now the rear will have something similar, just with two turn knobs here. These bolts are interchangeable, depending on what style of roof rack system you have. Right now we have it on an elliptical. This will also work with Aero, squad, round, and most factory roof racks as well. There you have it for the Swagman Race Ready Roof Bike Rack, on our 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Here it is on our test course.

We'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action, which simulates turning corners, or evasive maneuvers. Next, we're at the alternative speed bumps, which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pot hole, or driving over uneven pavement. Finally, we have the full speed bumps, where we'll see the up and down action, which is just like driving out of a parking lot garage, or driveway.
