Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Canyon Roof Cargo Basket, part number TH859. This roof mounted cargo basket is going to allow us to transport gear on top of our vehicle. It be a great solution to free up clutter and space in our vehicle for more passengers. It comes with multiple lengths of U bolts, it is going to fit your square, round, elliptical, aero and most factory roof rack systems. You could see we are using the Aero Blaze here today. It fits nicely around those.

It is made of a sturdy tubular steel construction and its got a nice ecoat black powder coat finish, it is going to resist your rust and corrosion and all elements. Its got an aero dynamic low profile design to it with a custom fairing that is going to help cut down on your wind drag and noise. Its got tapered walls which is going to make it easier for loading and unloading your cargo. Its overall dimensions are 49 inches long by 40 inches wide and 6 inches tall with a weight capacity of 150 pounds and it also features the limited lifetime warranty. As you can see the basket is nice and tight around our load bars. It is an easy assembly and installation.

It comes with all the mounting hardware you need to clamp it onto your load bars including these covers and for extra security you can lock them using the Thule locking cylinders part number TH512 which you can find on our website at etrailer.com. You can also key them alike with your other Thule accessories. It also provides good spacing between the tubular bars which makes it easy to mount your hooks or your bungee cords to secure your cargo. If you need extended length for your Thule Canyon Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, you could purchase the Thule Canyon Extension piece part number TH8591 for an extra 20 inches in length. Now that we've gone over some of the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to install it. Now I've already installed the top portion of our clamp, for that will match up with our load bars better on our vehicle on our basket.

They are completely adjustable. I've gone them tighten down but you can move them up, down and in or out depending on what kind of load bars you have. We'll make sure that our fairing is pointing forward and set it on our load bars and slide it over. I want to center it up with my vehicle. Now that we've got our roof basket on top of our load bars, we can go ahead and install our hardware. Now it comes with a variety of different size U bolts depending on what kind of load bars you'll be using.

It comes with 1 5/8, 2 inches and 2 3/8. We'll going to go with the 2 inch today. We'll take the 2 inch U bolt and put it underneath our load bar and then back up through the 2 holes on the top portion of our clamp. Then we'll take the two provided washers, put those over top, then we'll take our gray thumb screws and tighten that down. We want to make sure and tighten them evenly. That way we get a nice snug fit around our load bars. Now once we've finished tightening this, we'll grab our cap that is going to cover up our hardware. We'll take the notch in, notch it on this side first and then push the locking side inward and then we can lock it up just like that and then we can repeat that same step on the other 3 sides. Now that we've got it installed securely to our vehicle. Let's throw some gear up there and see how it performed on our test course. That's going to complete our look at the Thule Canyon Roof Mounted Cargo Basket part number TH859. .
