This is a folding and tilting two bike rack. It has been designed for use with inch and a quarter or two inch hitches. The part number is TH9042. Now this is also available on a three bike configuration. That part number is TH9043. To begin our test fit we'll hold out on the black attach pin located on the right side or passenger side of our rack.

We are going to slide that in until our pinholes line up. Once they've lined up, that attached pin goes into the pinhole nicely, we'll then tighten down the black knob that is located here in the rear. This engages the anti rattle device and it's going to further secure the rack to our vehicle. As you can see before I get that fully tighten we've got some movement and some play on our connection point there. It's a good idea to lift up and down a little bit as you are tightening down the knob, this is going to insure that we get all the play out of there that is possible and you can see once we have it tight, that point is nice and secure we are going to have a good stable ride for our bike. Let's get some clearance measurements now that we've got it installed in the vehicle. It looks like we are going to have about twelve and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance.

The knob is going to be the closest point of the rack to the rear of our vehicle. It's going to be located about a quarter inch away just over a quarter inch away. We don't have to worry about it making any kind of contact with the body though. Overall we've added about thirteen and a half inches to the length of our Forester. Pulling the gray lever that is located here on the front of the rack allows us to tilt that away from our vehicle. Its going to give us the room we need to get into our cargo area and get out any of our goodies.

We'll lift up on the mast until that lever goes into its original position. We'll then come right up here to the top, we got another gray lever this one as you can see allows us to extend out the dual cradle arms. With the arms in the extended position we've now added about twenty five and three quarters of an inch to the length of the Subaru. To load up our bike we are going to undo our cradle straps, then we'll grab our bike, we'll place it right up into our cradles, then we are going to work through and secure it with our straps. Just like that we got our bike loaded up and we are ready to hit the road. Now that we've been able to take a close look at how the Thule Helium Aero part number TH9042 fits onto and works with our 2015 Subaru Forester, let's take a look at how that very same rack perform when they head it out on our test course.
