Review of the Thule SUP Taxi Stand-Up Paddleboard Carrier

Today, we'll be reviewing the Thule SUP Taxi Standup Paddle Board Carrier, part number TH810. This is a single, or a double, standup paddle board carrier system that is designed to attach to most factory roof rack systems as well as Thule roof racks and other aftermarket systems. This paddle board carrier is designed to carry up to two paddle boards no more than 34 inches wide. Before we install it onto our vehicle, we need to make sure that our crossbar spread is at least 24 inches apart. this is the measurement from the center of the front crossbar to the center of the rear crossbar. Next, we'll need to adjust the telescoping saddles to fit our paddle board.

To do this, we will stand up our paddle board up against the wall and hold the Carrier up to it. You'll want to loosen up the straps first by opening the two front silver plates. We'll then press down on this gray lever with the thumb indention and move the saddles until it fits the paddle board accordingly. We'll do this for both parts of the Carrier. Now that our Carrier is adjusted, we'll begin our review by installing it onto the vehicle.

We'll place the top brackets onto the crossbars and bring the rubber coated steel straps around the underside of the crossbar and hook them into position. Next, we'll turn the gray knobs to tighten down the straps, securing the Carrier to the vehicles crossbars. We'll do this for both the front and back pieces of the Carrier. The Thule SUP Taxi offers and extremely safe and secure way to transport two paddle boards or surf boards on your vehicle's roof rack by stacking one on top of the other. The soft, weather-resistant padding on the saddles protect your board during transit.

The heavy duty, steel reinforced straps hold your boards in place in the saddles and include chafe guards to protect your paddle boards from the scratches and abrasions. This system comes with four Thule One-Key System Locks so that you can lock your boards to the Carrier as well as the Carrier to your crossbars. It is made in the USA and has a weight capacity of 165 pounds. Now that we've gone over some features and specs of the Thule SUP Taxi, we'll show you how to load up a paddle board. You'll, first, pull back the spring-loaded locking plate and front plate and pull out the strap.

You'll do this on both pieces of the Carrier. Next, we'll slide the paddle board onto the vehicle, making sure that the fin of the board is towards the front of the vehicle. We'll then bring the straps around the board, removing the locking and front plate again, and set the strap onto the tension device. You'll notice that there are steele teeth to prevent the strap from pulling out. We'll then close the front and locking plate around the strap and pull the strap tight, securing the paddle board to the Carrier, making sure that the chafe guards are over the edge of the paddle board to prevent damage. We'll then slide the excess strap into the cutout on the bottom of the Carrier. We'll repeat the same process for the other piece of the Carrier, and our paddle board is loaded up. Now with the paddle board loaded up, we'll show you how it looks driving down the road. That completes today's review of the Thule SUP Taxi Standup Paddle Board Carrier, part number TH810.
