Review of the Yakima CargoPack Rooftop Cargo Bag

Today were going to be taking a look at the Yakima cargo pack weather resistant rooftop cargo bag, part number Y07405. The Yakima cargo pack is a weather-resistant bag that fits on the top of your vehicle whether you have a naked roof or a roof rack system. It has a nice padded handle in the center of the bag on the front and the rear so its going to make it easy to pull on and off of our vehicle. The four red hooks are made of a soft plastic so we dont have to worry about that scratching of our vehicles finish and it also features the Yakima bottle opener. It also adds a sleek look and adds 16 cubic feet of extra storage space to your vehicle. It also features a heavy duty ballistic nylon anti-skid material to keep from sliding around on top of our vehicles roof and protect our finish as well. This flap here protects our zippers. Its locked on by a buckle so you undo the buckle and then its also secured by the hook and loop and the zippers are large enough to put a padlock through. The zippers and the seals are also rubber coated to prevent water from entering the bag. Lets take a look at some of the features on the inside.

Weve got good padding to protect the top of our vehicle as well as our cargo in mid-travel and also these internal compression flaps and straps to help keep our cargo in place as well. Its 44 inches long by 36 inches wide and 17 inches tall and it also features a limited lifetime warranty. Now that weve gone over some of the features Ill go ahead and show you how to install it. You want to make sure that the rubber portion, which is the underside of our bag, is on bottom. Climb aboard then well lay it overtop. As you can see were working with a vehicle that has raised side rails. This will also work with any roof rack system that you may have. Well simply start by undoing our hook and loop.

Ill start by feeding my strap underneath my raised rail. If this was a crossbar I would do the same thing. Ill feed the Yakima plastic portion underneath as well. Then Ill take the hooks part of it, slide it through the loop until its in and then Ill tighten that down. Once thats tied Ill repeat the same step on the other three sides. All right, now that weve got them all tightened down Im going to roll up my excess strap and then use my hook and loop that is attached to the strap to hold it all together.

Now Ill do the other three sides and just like that were ready to load up our bag and hit the road. Thats going to complete our look at the Yakima cargo pack weather resistant rooftop cargo bag, part number Y07405. .
