Now we'll go ahead and go back underneath the vehicle and route our wires to the back, keeping in mind you want to keep away from any sharp edges, moving parts or areas that may become hot. Notice the audible beeps will start signalling approximately at 5 1/2 feet, and as you get closer to the stationary object, will increase in beeps until solid. Our first step to begin our install is to mount the license plate bracket mount and sensor system. To do this, we're going to go ahead and set it in place and see where the sensor system wire will need to go through the back of the rear hatch. Now that we have an idea, we're going to go ahead and open up the rear hatch and remove the interior panel covering the inside. Note there are multiple fasteners that will need to be released. We'll have some screw fasteners and push pin fasteners. more

Text: etrailer.comAll right, today on this 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, we're going to install part number HM60100VA, and this is a Hopkins Backup Sensor System. First thing we need to do to install it is open up the trunk and we'll go ahead and remove the interior liner. This will give us access to finding a location to drill our hole out for our wire, and also attaching our wires for power. So these snaps go all the way around the perimeter of the panel, and then in the center of the panel there will be four screws that we have to remove. Now this panel is also connected to a handle for a lock on the inside. We'll take our panel and just rotate it up and out of the way, and set it on top of the trunk. All right, next we'll go ahead and find a location to run our wire from the outside to the inside. We'll make sure the location's on the right hand side of the license plate light. If we look on the inside edge of the trunk lid, there's a round opening. more

As you will see this factory plug is a little bit different than what comes on the Hopkins Backup Camera. Because the two plugs will not match, it will not be a simple plug-and-play installation. We will need to cut the end that has the two round plugs off of our wiring harness. Now, to install the license plate holder with the camera and the backup sensors on it, we'll simply use the two longer screws provided with the kit and attach it to our holes that would typically hold our license plate to the rear bumper here. Now, that we have that secure, we'll go ahead and take the wire lead that comes off the back of the camera and fish it behind the bumper. more
