Hopkins Multi-Tow Trailer Connector Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Hi there Chevrolet owners. Today in your 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Hopkins Multi-Tow 7-Way Blade and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector. And this is what our replacement connector's going to look like when it's installed. It replaces your factory connector or dummy plug that may be present and provide you with a 7-pole connector on top and a 4-pole connector on bottom, which really opens up your vehicle to being able to tow just about any type of trailer. You've got your 7-Way for your larger trailers that may have brakes, and you've got your 4-Way for your smaller trailers that just need lighting. I also like that the doors are spring loaded that snap shut, and there are rubber gaskets found on the inside of each one to keep out any dirt, debris and moisture to ensure long lasting connection and operation of both the 4- and 7-Way.And what I like even more is that on the front of our covers here, we have a diagram with a pin out of each circuit in our connector. more

It is going to be pretty much an OEM replacement. It looks a little bit different just because it has a couple spring doors, but other than that, it's going to fit in just like the OEM part that we removed here. more

A spring loaded lid. The lid is gonna have a foam ring in it that's gonna seal right around this edge to help keep any dirt and debris and moisture from your connection points. Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the CURT T-Connector vehicle wiring harness for factory tow package with a four-pole flat trailer connector. That's going to be part number C55384.Here's what our wiring's going to look like once woo hoo it installed. It is going to provide us with a four-pole flat trailer connector and it's going to give us all the required lights we need to safely get down the road like our taillights, turn signals, and our stop lights. Our wiring is going to plug directly into the factory tow package so it's going to be a very simple installation. If your truck already has the seven-way at the back, we're still going to be able to keep that function because it's going to have a T-connector, and it'll give us the option to tow a trailer that has a four-pole on it. Our wiring is going to come with a dust cap which will work to hook onto your safety chain loop if you don't have a bracket. Our wiring is also going to have this loom so it's going to help protect the wires and keep those bright colors down on the back of your truck. To begin our installation, we're going to come to the back bumperof our Silverado, and right next to our license plate on the driver side we're going to have this plug. more

Trailer Connector Socket Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins 7 and 4 pole trailer connector socket with mounting bracket, part number HM40975.So here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It is going to give us a seven way RV style connector, so we're going to have all of our lighting functions, 12 volt power, and our trailer brake controller ready for us. And at the same time it is going to give us a 4 pole flat trailer connector, which is going to give us all of our lighting functions, if our trailer doesn't have brakes. Now this is going to be a direct replacement for the factory plug that comes in the bumper. If your Silverado doesn't have that plug, or if you don't want to mount it there, our kit is going to come with a bracket so we can mount it somewhere else like the bottom of our hitch or the bottom of our bumper. And on the outside, it is going to have a legend letting us know which pin is going to do what, which is going to make testing our lights and all the functions really easy. And you just figure out which pin we need to check and it's also going to be on the 4 pole as well. Our connector's going to have a spring loaded cover so it's going to automatically close when we disconnect. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Pole Trailer Connector. Part number is 74682. Now this plug I really like the design of. Basically we have our 7-pole round plug as well as our 4-pole flat plug available right here on the back of the truck. That eliminates the need for any adapters or anything. Your 7-round and 4-flat are two of the most common trailer connectors out there, typically this is going to be your smaller utility trailers. more

These are your two most common connections. See each of our covers has a rubber gasket located all the way around. It's designed to press up against that raised edge. That's gonna give us a water-tight seal so dust, moisture, things like that, we're not gonna have to worry about it getting in. There's also a keeper tab right here so once your seven pole is in, it's gotta a tab that matches that and it'll prevent that from coming out.Our four pole has the same style protection inside of the cover. more

Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 we'll be having a look at and installing the Demco 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Plug, part number DM8555001. Here's what our seven-way connector looks like installed in the bed of our truck. With the location that we have here, we'll have quick and easy access to hook up to our gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer. In most applications, the wiring harness on the end of a gooseneck or fifth-wheel isn't long enough to reach where your factory seven-way is on your bumper. And if it was, you'd have to have it draped over your tailgate, and it could possibly get snagged or disconnected when you're making sharp turns. With our location here, we don't have to worry about that. It also gives us a quicker way of hooking up once we couple up to our trailer. more
