Best 2020 Chevrolet Traverse Trailer Wiring Harness Options

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at your best trailer wiring options, for your 2020, Chevrolet Traverse. Today, we're going to have four different wiring options to choose from. We're going to have two, four way flat connectors, and two seven way connectors. So for the four way flats, right here we're going to have the Tekonsha, and right here we're going to have the Curt, but the seven way connectors again, right here, we're going to have the Curt, and right here, we're going to have the Tekonsha. Before we get too carried away, in all the differences, I'd just like to throw out there, which wiring I would personally choose for my own Traverse. more

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with the four-pole flat trailer connector. So in my opinion, this is probably the best choice to go with as far as the four-pole flat trailer connectors go for your Traverse. It's really well built. It's going to work really good. Everything down from the wiring to the actual cap that protects the terminals is just really solid. So the wiring is going to provide your trailer with the necessary lighting functions to not only be safe, but legal as well. more

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2020 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing how to install the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring harness with a seven-way connector. What I really like about this seven-way is that it's going to provide our trailer with multiple different functions very easily. That's because this just plugs right in.Now, what it's going to provide our trailer is the basic functions like your stop and turn, your taillights, and your reverse lights. But it's also going to do a couple more things. It's going to have a 12-volt power output. more

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com. Today we'll be taking a look at the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with a seven-way RV style connector on our 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. Our Curt wiring is going to give us all seven functions at the back of our Traverse. We'll get all of our lights, like our taillights, turn signals, brake lights, and our reverse lights. But we're also going to get a 12 volt power source back here, and a brake controller circuit, if we want to add one later. We're going to have a nice spring-loaded door so you can keep all that dirt, debris and moisture outside of the connector. more

Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Chevrolet Traverse

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today, we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a seven blade RV-style connector on our 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. Now, our Tekonsha wiring is going to provide us with all the lights we need to get down the road safely, like our taillights, our turn signals, our brake lights and even our reverse lights, but it's also going to give us a brake output signal in case we have a brake controller in our Traverse, as well as a 12-volt power source to power anything on our trailer. Now, our 7-way connector is going to have a spring loaded door, so we don't have to worry about it coming open and anything getting inside. There is going to be a gasket on the inside of the door as well to keep all that dirt debris, moisture, or anything else from inside the connection points. Now, if we also look on the door, we're going to have this little notch here and that's what's actually going to catch onto your 7-way plug and prevent it from getting pulled out while we're driving down the road. And one of my favorite things about our wiring is how easy it installs. A lot of customers are worried when it comes to wiring about cutting or splicing into their vehicle. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Chevrolet Traverse

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Curt T Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness on our 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. Now our Curt wiring harness is going to provide us with a four pole flat trailer connector. So we have all the required lights to get down the road safely, like our running lights, our turn signals, and our brake lights. Now our wiring is going to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times so it'll be right by our hitch ready for us whenever we want to tow. And the nice thing is going to include a dust cap that we can actually use to hold our wiring by our hitch whenever we're not using it, but it's also going to keep all that dirt, debris and moisture out of the connector, and hopefully prevent any kind of corrosion. As far as installation, it is going to be extremely straight forward and the hardest part of it actually is going to be accessing the factory plug because we're not going to have to cut or splice anything. We're going to have one plug behind the bumper right above our exhaust that we'll plug into and then we'll just ride it over towards our hitch. more

Ryan: Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness. Now, what sets this one apart from many of the others is the fact that it's plug and play. We're going to have our four-pole end on this side, and the other side is going to have a connector that'll plug directly into our factory tow package, as opposed to having to tap into our Traverse's tail lights and have to run a power wire all the way out front to the battery. It's going to provide us with all of the necessary lighting functions to not only remain safe but legal. And other motorists on the road will appreciate the fact that your lights work, and they're going to know your intentions as you're pulling your trailer. We're going to have a thick rubber dust cap that's not only going to help our terminals clean, but it also serves as a hanger. That way we could store our wiring outside on our hitch. more

It's also gonna have a nice dust cap that's gonna help protect our connections from any dirt, debris, and moisture. This wiring harness is gonna plug directly into your factory tail light wiring and into your factor tail lights. The good thing about it is it's gonna have a power wire that runs up to your battery. The good thing about that is, it's not gonna draw any power from your tail lights themselves, it's gonna draw all the power from the battery, so you're not gonna get that dimming effect if you have lights that are drawing a little bit more power, or you have a few extra lights on your trailer. The first thing we need to do to start our installation, is we need to get into the hatch. more

I do want to mention that the bracket is not included in the kit, but you can pick some up on our website. Our wiring is going to provide us with a 4-Pole flat trailer connector. It's going to give us all the required lights to get down the road safely and within the law. So we can give us our tail lights, brake lights, and our turn signals. We chose to mount our wiring with this bracket, because the wiring is going to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times, so we'll be right next to our receiver tube whenever we get ready to hook up to our trailer. Now this is a custom-designed wiring kit, so it is going to be specific for our Traverse and it is just going to plug into a factory port, which is going to be right in this general area behind the bumper. Our wiring is even going to include this nice dust cover, which is going to keep some of the moisture and the debris out, from getting inside of the connector. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2011 Chevrolet Traverse we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a Four Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118450.Here what our wiring looks like installed. Now, the reason you're going to want a four pole flat wiring on your vehicle is if you're going to tow a trailer, the four pole flat wiring will give you the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to safely and legally tow a trailer. This green wire here provides your right turn signal and right brake light, yellow wire provides your left turn signal and left brake light. The brown wire is your taillight and running light signal, and the white wire provides the necessary ground connection between your trailer and your traverse. Now, on these three circuits we have a total power output of 7-1/2 amps maximum per circuit, which is more than sufficient to tow a trailer with several incandescent light bulbs per side on it. If you're running LEDs, you don't have to worry about those at all. Basically, run as many as you want because LEDs do draw significantly less power than incandescent light bulbs. more
