What Trailer Wiring Connectors are Often Found on Rental Trailers
Question:
I had a after market hitch installed on my QX60 Infinite. There is a 7-way plug in housing wired to the vehicle. 1. Is this correct?. 2. Recommended way to attach this plug-in onto the vehicle. It is currently tucked behind the spare tire 3. What is needed for plugs for the trailer. NOTE: I do not have a permanent trailer and will be using rental trailers when needed. It appears the plug- in that is installed is intended for LED type trailer lights. HELP!

A 7-way trailer wiring harness is a very commonly used trailer connector that most trailers are designed to work with. The only other common wiring connector that you might encounter would be a 4-way. Which all you would need then to convert your 7-way to a 4-way would be the # PK12716.
With the # PK12716 you would have the ability to tow a trailer with either a 7-way or a 4-way which would cover basically any trailer you would be able to rent.
