Installing a P3 Brake Controller in a 2002 Holiday Rambler with 6-Pole Trailer Connector

I need to install a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller in my motorhome, it is a 2002 Holiday Rambler Diesel with Air Brakes. I have searched for a plug or wires under the dash and in the panel beside the drivers left leg, but cant find what I need. It has a 6 pole round pin connector currently at the rear of the motorhome with the brake lights, turn signals and running lights working verified with a volt meter. I assume I will need the universal pigtail to wire the controller up. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

It does sound like the brake controller is going to have to be hardwired into your Holiday Rambler. To do this you can use wiring kit # 5506 but you may also need some additional duplex wire, # 10-2-1, sold by the foot, if the included 25 feet is not enough.

The brake controller white wire needs to connect to the negative battery terminal. The black wire will need to connect to the positive battery terminal via a 30 amp circuit breaker, included with the wiring kit. The blue wire will need to go to the back of your motor home's trailer connector. On a 6-Way round the brake output will either be the center pin or the pin in the 10 o'clock position (at the back where the wires attach).

That just leaves the brake controller red wire. Normally it attaches to the cold side of the brake switch above the brake pedal to a wire that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed and not with the headlights or turn signals on. On vehicles with air brakes this connection point may not be present. If that is the case with your motor home then any other dedicated brake light only circuit will work.
