Hitch Adapter Recommendation that Gives Hitch Opening Additional Rise for Ground Clearance
Question:
Hi there. I have the Curt hitch mounted on my 2014 Ford fusion and am trying to mount a small scooter carrier to the 1.25inch receiver. However, it is too low and scrapes the ground. Do you know of any 1.25inch hitch rise / extenders that would clear the approx. 4.5inch distance bumper of a Ford fusion? I can be either 1.25inch or 2inch receiver on the other end, but the end that connects to the car must be 1.25. Thanks for your time.

It sounds like you are looking for the part # HT5R which is designed to fit in a 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch and provide a 2 inch opening 5 inches above where the hitch installs.
You should note that these adapters end up cutting the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent.
