Weight Distribution Hitch With Sway Control for 1,400 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

I currently have a e2 10,000 pound with a 1,000 pound tongue max hitch. Recently i purchased a golf cart to haul in the bed of my truck. Total weight without the cart on the tongue is 1,100 pounds and with the cart is 1,473 tongue weight. I am fine with payload numbers and axle ratings. My question is, if i add air bags will it take the stress off the bars thus eating up the cart weight or do i have to upgrade to a heavier weight distribution system?

Adding air bags won't remove tongue weight or stress from the weight distribution system, and since there are no bars rated for nearly 1,500 lbs of tongue weight from Fastway, it does mean you need to upgrade to a more robust weight distribution system.

For approximately 1,500 lbs of tongue weight, if you liked your Fastway system you can get one from the same manufacturer, Equal-i-zer. This system is like the Fastway but with 4 points of sway control - at the hitch head and spring bars - instead of 2 points for even better control. The correct Equal-i-zer for 1,500 lbs of tongue weight is the following:

- Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System with 4-Point Sway Control # EQ64FR

This system fits a 2-1/2 inch hitch and is for tongue weight capacities of 1,200 lbs - 1,600 lbs so it is perfect for your application. It also comes with the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball so you don't have to make that purchase separately.

If your truck has a 2 inch hitch, I confirmed with the manufacturer that you can use this system, you just need a different shank, the Reese Weight Distribution Shank # RP54998.

This shank has a 16,000 lb towing/1,600 lb tongue weight capacity and will give you up to a 8-5/8" rise or 2" drop.
