Video Transcript for WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors Installation - 2022 Ram 2500

What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out these WeatherTech deflectors that are gonna come in a kit and we're gonna put a front and rear set on our 2022 Ram 2500. Taking a closer look at the deflectors, they're made out of a sturdy aero grade acrylic, so they're gonna hold up so you don't have to worry about it getting damaged if something hits it. You see it's pretty tough as I knock on it. It's not just a flimsy piece of plastic. It does have some strength there.

And it's really good for rolling your window to about here, if it's raining, it helps deflect that rain so you can still have some airflow in the cab or your truck and you don't have to have the window all the way down and get the rain on the inside. Here's a look at the rear one. Just an example of how it and the front one do look factory. I think they fit the truck really well. They go with the contours of the window, so it doesn't look out of place.

Another great thing is they're really easy to install. You don't have to bend 'em too much, like some other air deflectors where you worry about them breaking. Just a slight bend to get them installed. Check out how I did it. We're on the passenger side and we're gonna install our front deflector first, so you kind of match it up with the way the window looks.

You can see how it's gonna fit right in there. We're gonna start with the front. We're gonna slide it in right here in this gap. You can see there's kind of a textured weather strip. It's gonna go right between this one and the rubberized one.

So I'm gonna shove it into the corner here first and then we're gonna bow it out just a little bit to get our other side in. And now I'll come from the front to the back and start to tuck it into place. It's gonna go right in between that first weather guard. Hop up there and take a look. See you gotta make sure it goes underneath there. We're good here, but right about here, it got jammed up a little. So, just bring it out. Let that weather guard pop out. Then we can push it up into place the rest of the way. Gonna pull out on the deflector just a little bit to kind of stretch it so that the windows can go up and down and it won't affect it. I'm gonna go inside now and roll up the windows a few times. I'm gonna roll up the window. Now on this first one, it might make a little bit of contact if your windows have the auto detect, where they stop, that might happen. Just go ahead and go up. As long as you don't hear any cracking or breaking. Didn't even hit it that time. You see how it, well it came back down a little bit, but that's okay, that's why we're gonna do it four or five times just to make sure it settles in. Now we're gonna install the rear rain guard. Now, there's a little bit more to this than the front one. They give you some tools to use with it. So it's nice that you don't have to find your own in the toolbox. It's a plastic shim that's really easy to use. What you're gonna do is pull down on this rubber strip. It's also the textured one like we talked about before. You're gonna pull it all the way down and put a clip up in there and I wanna show you it before I start doing that, just to make it make a little bit more sense. In the diagram it's kind of hard to follow along. We're gonna put this up underneath this weather strip and then we'll put the guard in between the clip and the top of the door. And that's gonna make more sense when I show you. I just wanna give you a heads up 'cause the diagram isn't super helpful in the instructions. So, we're gonna use our tool. It also has a mark on there for three inches. So go three inches from the door. So about here is where we want it. So use this hook to go up and above the weather strip, pull it all the way down and we're gonna insert our clip. So just push that up into place. You can get it started with your thumb. Flip it around use the wider end to push it up a little bit further. I mean you want it to be straight up and down, so then you can fold that weather strip back up. Pushing down on the bent edge with my thumb and pushing up with the tool and then we can push the weather strip back up. So it's not as bad as it seems. It just takes a little bit to get it right. And then we'll go to the front. And now we're gonna go four inches in from the door. So about right here is where our other clip's gonna go. And we're gonna do the same thing as we did for the rear clip. Now with the rain guard in hand, I'm gonna peel back the protective strips for the adhesive. Once again, make sure you match it up with the shape of the window. So we're gonna have the straight edge up front and the curved edge towards the back. We're gonna work it into place. So the way I found it was easy is to put one end in here, kind of bend it out, put the other end in and then we're gonna put this lip in between the clip and the door frame. So first let's get it inserted into the groove and then push against the clips and slide it up. Now I'm gonna pull out on it, just a little bit like we did on the front, to make sure it's outta the way when I go test the window. Looks like it went right up into place and no contact was made. I'm just gonna go ahead and do it five times just to be sure. It looks good right there. Overall wasn't too bad to get installed. The front ones we're really easy. The back ones weren't that bad, once you figure out how to get the clips up in there on that first one, the second one's gonna be just as easy. Well, I think that about does it. Thanks for hanging out. I hope it's helped..

Nice product. The only negative is the rear window guard's shape doesn't allow the rear windows to be open more than 1/4" without being protected by the guard (the rear of the shape of the rear guard and the rear door window allows for a gap to occur as soon as the window is opened).

by:

One fell off on the rear and the other slid down. Need to replace one of that would be possible. Love the front ones. Rears not so much

etrailer instructions are much better than the instructions on the weather tech website! Installation was simple. Low profile and clean lines

by:

Easy to install. Took 20 minutes tops. Most of that was reading instructions.

by:

The quality of the product is excellent and the install was very straight forward. But due to several issues I had with other items on the order and that many of the items were simply thrown loose in a box, I would not recommend buying from etrailer.

by:

I’m very impressed with my rain guards I ordered from etrailer. I love that they bend down all the way along the front window. The installation was very easy. I did not give the product 5 star because the rain guard installed on the rear door passenger window flew off after 3000 miles.

The deflectors themselves work great. I had them on my previous 2007 Dodge Mega Cab, and the driver's side rear one blew off. I put a set on my 2011 Dodge 3500, and the driver's side rear one blew off. Sent an email to WeatherTech about getting just one deflector instead of having to by a whole set. Never got a response. Dealing with etrailer was great.

2016 Dodge Ram Pickup

I ordered these because my 2016 Ram 3500 seemed to have an issue with water dripping inside whenever I would roll down the window. I'm pleased to note that these completely solved my issue. They were quite easy to install and took me only a few minutes. As an added bonus, I like being able to crack my window on a rainy day (it rains a lot where I live) and my dog loves that. I have no issues with going through car washes. The only thing I did notice is that when I fold my mirrors in their non-towing configuration, the driver's side mirror will touch and push in on it slightly. It's not enough to hurt either the mirror or the unit, but I will be keeping an eye on it. Thanks.

by:

Backs went in just as instructions said and worked great. The fronts are not cut right and don't fit amazing. Some plastic broke on both fronts before they fit correctly where the window would come up. It is on the outer seal as stated and I reinstalled them about 10 times. They need to work on the front design. Time will tell how they hold up. 2020 ram 1500 crew.

by:

Best rain guards you can purchase. I cant believe people pay 50k to 100k for a truck and add the ungly stick on window rain guards. With these, the blend right into to truck

by:

They are discreet & match factory window tint on my Ram crew cab. I bought them hoping they would help cut down the terrible chuffing when driving with a window or two cracked, but alas no difference. There is no reduction in road noise with windows up either. These seem to only be good for cracking the windows when raining.

by:

The window guards were a snap to install, and a perfect fit. A great addition for ventilation without water getting in.

I ordered five separate products for my new truck at the same time. The entire order arrived complete and on time. It was nice to be able to get everything I wanted from one supplier. I would certainly purchase from etrailer again without hesitation.

When on easy

by:

Nice product

by:

Same as my other review, loud pop but did not check to see of a piece snapped off, Even without the tape on the front windows, parts stay on without a hitch. So far impressed.

by:

Rears are good, fronts go in hard and windows reverse when they meet. Broke corner trying to get good fit. They do stop wind and shade well.

by:

Work perfectly with my 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. Super easy to install and they look fantastic.

by:

Good quality rain guards for my truck.

by:

Perfect fit and easy installation

by:

Fronts installed without a problem. The back were nothing but a pain. The instructions were not extremely clear on where the clips should sit and it took a lot of wrestling to get the guard on.

Fit great install is easy
