Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Easy to install, looked clean and worked well while I had the car. Instructional videos are always great.

by:

Install took about 30 minutes. It is mainly used for my KUAT bike rack. I love the tilt feature. I can drop it down and open the back hatch of my Mazda CX3 easily.

by:

The hitch is solid but the install video is completely wrong. I watched it a dozen times and I specifically bought the Draw Tite hitch because you didn’t have to remove the 2 supports for the bumper, only a small strip of plastic. That is not the case though. There are two supports and the strip that need to be removed before you can set the hitch up on the threaded bolts. If you don’t remove them (like the video) you will get the hitch jammed on the bolts and it’s a pain in the butt to get it back down. Also the video doesn’t show them putting the washers on the bolts before setting the hitch into place so if you do what I did and go by the video instead of looking at the directions you will realize there are 4 “extra washers at the end and have to take it back down and redo it and put the washers in place(really spacers they way they are being used). Biggest thing is there is NO way you can secure the 4 bolts the way the video says with a universal joint on an extension. Use a deep well socket attached to a torque wrench. On the drivers side I used a strap on the handle to pull down on the torque wrench and it was easy to set the proper foot lbs. On the passenger side, lay on your back and use the deep socket with the torque wrench and push up. Forget all the extensions and universal joints. You will not be setting the proper torque if you add a universal joint to the wrench. If you use my method you will save yourself a ton of time and you won’t curse as much as I did. Also when dropping the muffler just strap it from the hanger on the car to the hanger on the muffler. Hope this helps at least one person. Great product after you get er done though. You can do it!

2020 Mazda CX-3

Of the two options for hitches for the CX3 this one is by far the better. I originally tried a Curt receiver which is of very similar design to the Draw-Tite. The Draw-Tite is significantly stiffer and does a good job carrying a loaded bike rack.
My only advise would be to remove the bumper to install. It only takes about 30 minutes, a phillips screwdriver, small flat screwdriver, 8mm and 10mm sockets and makes the job much easier.

2018 Mazda CX-3

The trailer hitch for my Mazda CX-3 was delivered exactly as indicated. I was able to have it installed the following day. It will be used for my bike rack and a local U-Haul store was able to find which hitch was needed by using this website.

by:

I have had the bike trailer hitch for a year and it has exceeded my expectations. Your video's to install it were very helpful and I did it myself and might have been better to have a second person but with a floor jack I was able to do it.

by:

Good quality product. Delivery time is good.
The
installation video is very helpful.
My car is a Mazda CX-3, 2019.

Two things to improve:
1. The 4 holes on the hitch are a little bit smaller than the bolt on the car, I had to file the holes to fit in.
Also, no space to tight the 4 bolts. I need a special tool to get it.
2. The shipping fee is expensive.

2016 Mazda CX-3

LOVE that you do this. Very smart!

The
products worked great. I will say that install was super tricky due to the super tight space on the inside of the bumper. So any insights to help folks like me best navigate install is the only potential improvement I can think of.

Other than that...awesome in all other respects. Love the quality and the customer service to date.

So thanks for running a good business guys!

by:
2016 Mazda CX-3

Overall the install went really well. it was a little tight but using different extensions worked. you will need the deep 17 socket. makes it much easier. I did not have to leave any trim pieces off either. I watched the video first which was a big help. I back the car up on the ramps and there was plenty of room to work.

by:

I had to replace the class I hitch also bought on etrailer because that one bent from going over a dip in the road at probably too fast. But after comparing the old one with this one, even though they are both class I, the Drawtite is much more structurally sturdy, particularly around the area that bent on the previous one. Fitment was spot on. Get it.

2018 Mazda CX-3

I purchased this hitch to support a Yakima bike rack. Delivery was quick and the online video was a great help with the installation!

by:
2018 Mazda CX-3

The order process was easy and the video on the web page, along with the pdf file downloaded installation instructions made the install a breeze for my mechanic. FYI, we ordered this hitch for a 2019 CX-3 and it fit perfectly.

Customer service was great too, as I received several emails confirming my order and a follow up email.

by:

The hitch is a high quality part. The delivery was awesome. It actually came a day earlier than expected. Installation was was ok. The video was helpful but getting at the the 4 nuts to tighten the hitch in place was a challenge. Swivel or not it is a tough place to get at.

by:

I'm completely satisfied with the hitch and have been asked by other riders where I bought it.

Jameson and Donna P. were very helpful with my order. An item was out of stock and Donna quickly noticed this and ordered it directly from the manufacturer and updated my delivery date and my shipping address. Everything arrived on time and that was appreciated. Jameson answered my initial concerns and explained in detail what I would need to complete the job. Thanks to both and etrailer. I never realized there was so much to learn about towing a trailer, but they made it easy to learn.

  • 2016 Mazda CX-3 Hitch Recommend and Explanation on How Many Bikes Class I Hitch can Carry
Class I hitches can only carry up to 2 bikes on a bike rack. The problem is that additional bikes puts more weight on the hitch, but what really is the problem is the location of the weight. The additional bikes end up being so far away from the hitch that the weight gets basically multiplied due to the leverage of the distance. It is kind of like when you are changing a car tire and the lugs are really tight. If you use an extended breaker bar, it is easier to loosen the lug nuts. The...
