Troubleshooting Curt Brake Controller with Short Error When Override is Slid
Question:
I am installing the curt brake controller in my 1993 dodge d350 and when I press the manual slide it shows disconnected and then short. Also will not light up when I press the brake. Was wondering if I could get some help with it. Thanks

Sounds like you have a wiring short most likely due to a wiring issue where the brake controller is connected to your truck. I would suspect there's some exposed wire that is creating a short that you'd want to use some electrical tape to insulate and fix.
The other place to check is the wiring behind your trailer wiring connectors for shorts. If not that it's the controller that has an internal short which is unfortunately not uncommon for Curt brake controllers. The Prodigy P2 # 90885 is a much more reliable controller if you determine you need to replace yours.
