Install your Curt electric trailer brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in port beneath your vehicle's dash.
Features:
To install your Curt electric brake controller, you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain auto manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein wiring is run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. When this is done, a port is installed at your dash so that you can easily plug in a brake controller.
This adapter plugs into the port on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, and it is taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
No hardwiring is required to install this adapter. After you plug it into the factory port, you simply plug the other end of the adapter directly into your electric trailer brake controller. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or securely stow it away.

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the CURT custom wiring adapter for trailer brake controllers. Now, this is a custom fit for the 2018 through 2019 Ford Expedition with the factory four-way and also with the factory seven way or factory four flat or factory seven way.So this gray controller or this gray plug is going to go underneath your dash. So you might have to remove some of the panels to get access to that wiring, but it's just going to plug right into an existing plug and then give you access to all those functions so that you can plug in your CURT brake controller.Works with both proportional and time delayed controllers. So it makes wiring really easy for your brake controller. Just have to plug in those two ends, and you're pretty much ready to go.
As I said, you might have to lower that lower dash panel on your Ford Expedition to get access to the plug that this goes into. A couple bolts to remove, but really nothing too terribly difficult. The hardest thing will probably just kind of be getting in there to see where you're going, but.We have a good amount of length to run to the back of our brake controller and then measure this out here so you can see how much you have to work with. It's about 24 inches, excuse me, about 24 inches or about two feet. So it should be enough to route this away from anything that's going to damage it, like your brake pedals, your gas pedal.
You want to stay away from your steering. It does come with two small zip ties to tie up any excess that you might have. Never a bad idea to grab a couple extra zip ties, just because you can always have more. But already has this wire loom on it so all the wires inside are protected there. So it makes the installation pretty straightforward and easy.Does come with a limited one-year warranty from CURT. The wire gauge inside there is going to be a 12 gauge.
And again, it will work with brake controllers from CURT, but not with other controllers with pigtail wiring harnesses. That's going to do it for our look at the CURT custom wiring adapter for trailer brake controllers on the Ford Expedition.
