Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter. What our cabin air filter is going to do for us, it's going to trap all the dirt and debris and keep it from blowing through our air system into our vehicle. It's going to be constructed of pleats. They're going to go from one side to the other. Each pleat is going to collect all that dirt and debris down inside and it's going to hold it in place, again, keeping it from going through our air system into our vehicle.Our new filter may look like it's dirty, but it's actually going to be constructed of charcoal-infused paper.
What the charcoal has been known to do, it's been known to hold onto those contaminants really well and purify our air much better than other types of filters out there. To install our air filter, it's going to be very simple. We're going to have arrows on one side that tell us the direction of air flow. We need to remove our glove box first. By our passenger door over here, when we open our glove box, there's going to be a little rod.
We need to pull that rod off.We're going to reach in on the back corners and we're going to pull in like that. Once we get to here, we'll slide our box off. Right back here, we're going to lift that little door. Right inside here is going to be our cabin air filter. We're going to pull on this tab and we're going to have another one on this side.
Pull it off. That's going to be our cabin air filter. You'll notice that the arrow is facing down. Go ahead and pull that out. It looks like our filter is doing pretty good.
Looks like it's recently been changed, but if you notice, when we open these pleats, you can see some dirt and debris down inside of there. That's what we want our filters to do.We want it to keep all those contaminants out of the interior of the vehicle. So now, installing our new one, arrows go down. I'm just going to slide it into place, reinstall our cap, reinstall our glove box and we're ready to go. That's going to complete our look at and installation on the PTC Cabin Air Filter.

While the Filter seems acceptable, the [online] video etrailer has on-line showing how to DIY install/replace and access the filter is incomplete and a bad source of how to do it. In it, the information on a simple procedure like removing the glove box to get at the filter housing completely neglects to tell an Acadia owner it is necessary to easily disconnect the left-side of the glove box from the swivel restraint which takes two seconds. That earned the one star review and caused me to finally source other, complete and accurate [online] videos on how to do it.

I like it has carbon filter to better screen out outside impurities. It was more stiff than the original cabin filter making it harder to insert.
