Video Transcript for Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - C56110 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C56110, this is your replacement OEM wiring harness. This product is going to fit certain years of the Ford F150 and the E series vehicles. It's going to supply your 4 way flat plug at the back of the vehicle. Now, this is designed to be an exact replacement for a damaged, or needing to replace OEM wiring harness. Here on the 4 way flat, it's going to come with the protective cap, that way you can protect your connection points when the connector is not being used. Just goes over that area there, and then comes over the connectors.

It's also going to come with your detailed instructions, it's going to come with your cable ties to secure any excess or lose wires that you may have, and it's going to come with self taping screw to make a good ground connection right here with the ring terminal, and white wire. Very easy installation, you do not have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. All you have to do is locate the OEM trailer wiring harness connector on top of the spare tire support, it's usually located on the driver side, it favors the driver side. You're going to insert the new connector. The connector should match up perfectly, make sure it's fully inserted, it's going to lock and secure into place for a nice, tight, secure connection. Then you're going to need to make a good ground connection using an existing screw with the nut, or you can use the supplied self taping screw.

Place that right here through the ring terminal that's attached to our white wire, which is our ground wire. Once you have that connected you can then route the 4 way back to the rear of the vehicle, and then you can secure it in a convenient, out of the way location, near the hitch. Again, detailed instructions, these are going to have pictures that are going to help you through the installation process, very detailed. Once you have that done you can go ahead and use some of the cable ties to secure the wiring, keeping it up and out of the way. That's going to do it for today's look at part number C56110.

This harness for my Ford F-150 was a perfect fit. When I bought my truck it had a hitch but no light harness and everywhere local wanted $50+ dollars. This was an excellent price and so easy to install. Took me a few minutes. All you need is a power screw driver to screw the ground wire down and plug in the harness and that’s it. Definitely recommend this to anyone!

I can not be happier with the service and product. I received the Draw Tite Class III trailer hitch on time as expected. From start to finish and by myself, it took me exactly 15 minutes to install. I did not need to lower spare tire and it looks clean and neat on the truck. It took me longer to open the cardboard box. Thank you for your great service and follow up and I will highly recommend you in the future.

Happy with your wiring harness good prompt delivery will use for future purchases.

  • What Hitch do You Recommend for My 2018 Ford F-150?
If you do not have a factory hitch on your 2018 Ford F-150, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # C86HR. Not only does this hitch come with a 6,000 pound towing capacity and a 900 pound maximum tongue weight, it also comes with a superior gloss outer coating over the base coat that will provide more resistance against rust and corrosion that Draw-Tite and etrailer alternatives. Also, the installation includes a bolt-on process that only takes about 40 minutes to...

  • Recommended Replacement Trailer Wiring for 2018 Ford F-150 Without Tow Package
If you have the factory 4-way, then you simply need the Replacement OEM Wiring Harness for Ford F-150 # C56110. If you have the factory 7-way then I recommend the Reese Multi-Plug Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connectors # 74682. Your truck will have either the rectangular connector or the round connector already present. These will simply plug into the factory wiring which is present even without tow package and you will be good to go.

  • How to Install 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2011 Ford F150
The parts necessary to provide a 7-way for your F150 would depend on how it was equipped when it left the factory. If your F-150 has the factory round plug located along the drivers side frame rail behind the back bumper, you would use part # 74682. The factory plug will have a dust cover that will need to be removed, and the 74682 would plug right it. If your F-150 does not have the round plug, but has a 4-pole connector, part # 37185 can be used. It would plug into the existing 4-pole,...

  • Recommended Wiring for 2016 Ford F-150 to Have 7-Way Trailer Connector
If you already have the round wiring connector on your 2016 Ford F-150, then you simply need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Pole Flat Connectors # C55774. If you do not have the round connector and instead have the rectangular connector, then you will need the Replacement OEM Wiring Harness for Ford F-150 # C56110 to give you a 4-way and then add the 7-way wiring kit for brake controller # ETBC7 and connect the brake wire to the blue wire...

  • How to Add Second 4-Pole Trailer Connector to 2015 Ford F-150
If you want to add a separate 4-pole connector to your F-150 to power the lights in your tool box you can use part # 118384. This will simply plug in behind your existing trailer connector, going inline with it. Your existing 4-pole/7-way will remain active but you'll then have a second separate 4-pole for connection to the tool box lighting. If your tool box uses different wiring/connectors than a standard 4-pole, please let me know. You'll want to ensure the total load from all lights...

  • Is there a Specific Wiring Color Code for a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2013 Ford F-150
Factory wiring could be any color since there is no one standard that all manufacturers follow. You will need to test the wires by function using a circuit tester such as # PTW2992 if you do not already have one. I have included a picture that shows a standard 7-Way and how it is pinned out. That should help if you still have the wires attached to the factory connector.

  • Troubleshooting Rear Parking Lights on 2011 Ford F-150
The rear park lamp circuit in a 2015 Ford F-150 is protected by a 10A fuse in position 40, according to page 333 of the owner's manual. I suggest re-checking this one fuse position and trying a new fuse, just in case. It sounds like you have issues with both your F-150's own lighting functions as well as those on its trailer connector. This tends to suggest that the place to troubleshoot is the OEM wiring connection under the truck where items like 7-way # 118283 and 4-pole # C56110 plug...

  • Wiring Harness for 2016 Ford F-150 Without Tow Package
To help you determine which wiring harness will work on your 2016 Ford F-150 you can look for the connector that's under the truck's bumper. If the connector is round and looks like it will match up with picture # 1 that I've attached then you can use # 74682 and plug it right in to give you both a 7-way and 4-way trailer connector. If you find a connector that is more rectangular like in picture # 2 then you can use # C56110 which will give you a 4-way connector. If this is the case...

If your 2016 Ford F-150 does not have a factory connector at the rear of the truck, you will just want to take a look under the bumper to determine which harness will fit. If you find a round connector that looks like the #1 image attached below, then I recommend the Reese Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way & 4 Pole # 74682. Once that is there then just add the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7 which will give you a fully working 4 and 7-way trailer connector and the connections for your brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 part # 90195 that you have.

  • Left Hand Turn Signal Causes Multiple Lights to Illuminate on Trailer
The issue you are having with your trailer lights could be caused by either a ground or wire short. I first recommend you test the pins inside the 7-way on your tow vehicle to make sure that the issue is on the trailer and not the tow vehicle. The pins should only be active when you have the respective signal applied. For example, if you were testing the left hand stop/turn pin then the circuit should only be active with these signals applied. In addition to this, the turn signal should...
