2013 Dodge Durango

One problem with the front of many vehicles is the inability to find an attachment point, whether for the front of a canoe on your roof or for a tow strap. A solution is to install a front hitch receiver with or without tow loops. A front hitch receiver then offers the ability to install a variety of other helpful devices such as a winch or bike rack greatly increasing the utility of your vehicle.

I installed the Curt Front Hitch Receiver C31033 on the front of a 2013 Dodge Durango. I was happy with the results. Some points to note in this application are that the hitch receiver is completely hidden behind the front air dam requiring cutting a hole through the plastic molding to enable inserting a hitch or other device. Further, the tow loops, while accessible, are also completely behind the air dam, so unless you further cut openings for the tow loops, a straight line pull would push up on the air dam. The provided bumper trim diagram only indicates cutting access for the hitch receiver, not the tow loops.

Other observations during installation are that two of the "square hole spacers" had to be trimmed by 0.25" on one end due to a restriction inside the frame which otherwise would not allow the bolts to be aligned with the holes drilled in the required locations. Also, the trim diagram for the underbody panel supplied with the directions while detailed and specific, would not have worked in my application. I found it best to trim a little bit of plastic off at a time while fitting the panel in place multiple times to obtain a custom fit. Finally, plan on drilling at least one new attachment point for the underbody panel due to restrictions introduced by the hitch receiver.

Still working out fine. While no fault of the front hitch mount, when mounted on the 2013 Durango, it is closer to the ground than desired and devices ed in the receiver may rub the ground when driving into steep driveways etc.

2012 Dodge Durango

The only problem was in the unreal expectation of a quick installation. I took this to a mechanic in my parish - it took him three hours working with an assistant. But it looks fine! Installed on a 1012 Durango CREW.

Did you trim the end of the hitch or is that where it sits from the factory flush with the bumper? Also how far under the buper is the hitch pin? Thanks

Frank J.

5/23/2014

Dan, I did not trim the hitch. It does sit that flush with the front bumper. The hitch pin is reachable from your knees, but is hard to use unless you connectdisconnect a lot. You can easily see the holes if you are willing to get on the ground. It is a great addition. It gets a lot of looks when I leave the ball on the front . I would definitely buy one again - in fact I am looking for one for a 2014 JEEP Cherokee Trailhawk... hint, hint.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Fit perfect, only problem i had was finding someone to do it. [moving company] wouldnt just let u know. Found a shop that installs snow plows that did it. Took them 2 1/2 hours

by:
2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased this Tow Hitch because it was compatible with my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. And it was supposed to be very easy to install. However, I was unable to do so on my own.
I tried to get a trailer shop to install the hitch, and had no luck at all.
Finally with pure luck, I found a U-Haul shop that would install. The installation took 1.65 hours ($165.00) plus tax. I should have done better homework and first time an installer before buying the hitch.
The installation was neatly done by U-Haul, however, I surely did not expect to have two spend another $165.00 to have it installed.
I have not tried the hitch as of now, but it looks solid and for my purposes it will be perfect.
I will use this front hitch to put my 18.5 Cobia CC in/out of the water.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Product fits perfectly and I'm sure will work well with a load extender for transporting long loads, snow plow attachment and " backing" trailers with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Installation was a bit challenging. I used a small hole saw to make selected mounting holes big enough to "snake in" hardware. Just a bit more time consuming for me than advertised, but final result is perfect. As always, shipping and customer service from etrailer was excellent!

Part came extremely fast. Well packed. Just what I wanted and at a great price!

  • Will Tow Hooks Need to be Removed to Install Front Hitch in 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
To answer your question about which front mounted hitch option you should order for your 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, there is actually only one that fits, the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31033. That said, your tow hooks do need to be removed in order to install this hitch and your tow hooks do need to be bolted on (as opposed to welded) to install. I have added a link to the installation instructions for you to check out as well.

  • Installation Instructions for Curt C31033 Front Mount Receiver for 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I've linked to the installation instructions for the Curt # C31033, which works on 2015 Grand Cherokee models with or without the tow hooks. If the vehicle has tow hooks, they'll need to be removed in order to install the hitch, but that shouldn't present a problem as the hitch has tow hooks integrated into it.

  • Which Front Mount Receiver for 2018 Dodge Durango or Jeep Grand Cherokee
We do offer a front mounted receiver for the 2011-2021 Dodge Durango (excluding the SRT), the Curt # C31033 which also fits certain models of the Grand Cherokee (excluding the SRT, SRT8, Trailhawk and models with front tow hooks) through the 2017 model year. For 2018, Jeep made some changes to the front clip of the vehicle, so the front receiver won't fit after 2017. For the Durango, the only fit exclusion is if the tow hooks are welded on, instead of being bolted in place. The receiver...

The Curt # C31033 fits the 2011-2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since there are no custom fit front hitches for your 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X, the only option is a universal hitch like the Draw-Tite # 41990-07. This is a weld-on hitch so you will need to find a certified welder for installation. This comes with 7" mounting brackets which can be modified as needed.
