1998 Ford Expedition - Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights - Red LEDs - 4-Way Flat Connector - Wireless

  • Removable Tail Light Kit
  • Bypasses Vehicle Wiring
  • Magnetic Mount
  • Universal
  • Hopkins

Removable LED lights provide signal lights for your towed car without you having to tap into the car's wiring or run wires under the car. Wireless transmitter plugs into your RV's 4-way connector and sends a signal to the magnetic lights.

Features:

  • Removable tow lights provide stop, tail, and turn functions for your trailer or towed car
  • No need to wire your trailer or tap into wiring on your towed car
  • Wireless transmitter eliminates the hassle of running cords to the lights every time you tow
    • Plugs into 4-pole flat trailer connector on RV or tow vehicle and mounts to the frame with a magnet
    • Emits a signal that triggers tow lights from up to 65' away
    • Operates on a standard 12-volt system
  • Heavy-duty, non-scratch magnets on the lights provide a secure grip without damaging your paint
  • Long-lasting LEDs are more efficient, faster acting, and brighter than incandescent lights
  • Sonically sealed lenses keep moisture out and prevent corrosion
  • Durable polycarbonate bases house batteries
  • On/off switch lets you use the lights as needed, conserving battery power
  • 8 AA batteries (not included) are required to power the lights
    • Flashing LED on driver's-side light indicates low battery
  • Department of Transportation compliant

Specs:

  • Application: towed cars or trailers no wider than 80"
  • Light diameter: 4"
  • Length of wire between lights: 106"
  • Transmitter wire length: 76"
  • 90-Day warranty

Hopkins Tow Lights mount on the back of your towed vehicle.

These wireless, removable tow lights make it easy to add running lights, brake lights, and turn signals to your towed car or trailer. With this setup, you won't need to tap into existing wiring for installation. With other magnetic tow lights, you have to run cords from the lights to the front of the towed car or trailer every time you need to tow. These tow lights work wirelessly to eliminate that hassle. And the wireless design also allows you to move the lights from one vehicle to another in minutes.

Hopkins Tow Lights magnetic base.

The lights attach directly to any metal surface with the included heavy-duty, non-scratch magnets, which won't damage your paint. And the handy on/off switch lets you use the lights only when you need them, saving battery power.

The 4-way connector plugs into your vehicle. The transmitter attaches to your tow vehicle via a heavy-duty magnet.

Setup is simple. Plug the included transmitter into the 4-way flat trailer connector on your RV or tow vehicle. The transmitter mounts to the frame of the RV or tow vehicle using the built-in magnet. Turn the switch on the driver's-side light to "on," and attach the tow lights to the back of the towed car or trailer, as far apart as is practical. Secure any excess wire between the 2 lights with a twist tie.

Each light is powered by 4 AA batteries (not included). A blinking LED indicator on the face of the driver's-side light signals low battery. This indicator should be checked every 2 hours to be sure your lights still have adequate power.

They work great on my Class C pulling my Honda CRV.

by:
2019 Thor Windsport Motorhome

I just received them and tested them out and they work great. They are very bright and responsive. I look forward to using them in the future when I tow my vehicle behind my RV.

VERY GOOD SERVICE I HAVE ORDER THINGS FROM FOR YEARS I THINK THEY ARE THE BEST BAR NONE

by:

Have issues with lights blinking erratic

by:

Ordered these because my car towing wiring had a problem and didn't have time to get it fixed. First set arrived but had a manufacturing defect and right hand light didn't work (not etrailer's fault!). Called etrailer and they were very accommodating in sending out a second set which arrived in time. The second set worked perfectly. Good service and extensive follow up by etrailer shows they care. I'll use them for other purchases any time!

Still works great. Save us on a trip when the car to RV connection went [bad].

by:

Test connection went perfectly. Will see how it goes when we hit the road in May. The lights look well made and should last me a long time.

Thank for the great service!

by:

No big deal, install batteries and put on toad !

Should have done this years ago before they cut into my tail light wiring and also had to deal with rusted out 4 prong plug in over the years.

Still the best and not a problem, quality product

Wonderful product

by:

Works great no problems easy to install

by:

Great looking lights, LED wireless hook up makes this an easy installation and easy choice.

by:

very easy to see and use. I hope I never have to rewire another old trailer. Love them.

Lincoln MKZ

These things are the best thing since sliced bread!
We have a Lincoln MKZ that already has a hitch on the rear for towing a small enclosed trailer. The thought of having to "hard" wire in a wiring harness for towing behind the motorhome that would still allow the trailer to be towed was not a task I was looking forward to. etrailer suggested these as an alternative. Literally plug and play. Just plug the transmitter into the motorhome, install batteries and attach the magnetic based lights to the trunk of the MKZ and presto! DONE! I hooked the car up behind the motorhome and ran it down the freeway at 60-65 mph and all was good. Worked straight out of the box! Fantastic product!

Saturn Ion

These work well, bright. They do eat up regular Duracell batteries. After first use of these I switched to Lithium Ion. The lights were noticeably brighter in the daylight sun. The life of the batteries has drastically improved service. I have a habit of removing the batteries when not in use to enable greater duration; they do have an on/off switch built in, but it's so simple to remove them in case of phantom degradation. Over-all, I am very happy with these and installation on the car is a snap. Love them so far. Would buy/recommend to others.

I bought the wireless Hopkins tow lights to temporarily tow my new Jeep behind our Motorhome until I could wire the taillights permanently. I liked them so well that I have never wired the Jeep and only use the wireless taillights.

by:
2011 Ford Taurus

Was absolutely 100% delighted with this product. Drove a total of 2600 miles in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions and these lights worked perfectly. Batteries lasted all most to the end of the trip. I'd recommend this set up to everyone who cannot afford to have wiring redone on a vintage trailer.

by:

Great customer service

by:

Great experience.Fast service.

by:
2010 Honda Element

I have not tried this yet, but the design is excellent! Having a magnet on the transmitter to attach to the tow vehicle was just icing on the cake!

by:

These have been a lifesaver for our camper lights not working properly. Never had an issue with these

by:

Great system

by:

Product appears to work as represented. Have not had it on the road yet.

Lights work great, and battery life is better than expected. Only issue is potential for paint damage... I recommend that the manufacturer consider a softer landing pad to reduce potential for paint scratches.

works just like Quinn said

It has worked out fine and as advertised. the manufacture needs to work out a quick charge system, with external jacks, or a large external rechargeable battery pack for tow-able vehicles for RVs that go on multi day tows.

  • How to Flat-Tow a 2004 Saturn Ion Behind a Pickup Truck
I am not sure what you mean by "mid" but the only 2004 Saturn Ion that can be flat-towed with all four wheels on the ground are the ones with a manual transmission. If you do have a manual transmission then you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, flat-tow wiring harness, safety cables, supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. I have attached my recommendations for each of these parts below. For a base plate kit I recommend the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit part # DM9518151...

  • Temporary Trailer Light Recommendation
The closest thing to what you described would be the Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights # C6304. These are tow lights designed for temporary use when flat-towing. You would have to check with your local laws and regulations on trailer lights, but technically these would work well for you. These lights attach with powerful magnets.

  • Why Will the Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights not Work on a Couple of my Trucks
There should be no issues going from manufacturer to manufacturer with the Hopkins Magnetic Tow Lights with 4-Way Flat Connector part # C6304. There can be a few exceptions however. On some Fords there was an issue where the towing package or mode had to be on for the wiring adapter to receive signals from the wireless transmitter. There are some vehicles that do not recognize the light or efficient draw we get from LED lights. This high efficiency can sometimes "fool" certain vehicle's...

  • Recommended Flat Towing Setup For 1982 Jeep CJ-7
I would be happy to recommend a flat towing setup for your 1982 Jeep CJ-7. Since the only base plate kit confirmed to fit your Jeep is the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9518112 which will work with the standard front bumper, you will not be able to use the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar # RM-501. Keep in mind that you will also need a tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and most likely a high-low adapter. I do have options for you but it's largely going to depend on what trailer wiring harness you have installed on your 2005 Jeep Wrangler. The best and most simple solution for you would be to just use a set of magnetic tow lights, the MaxxTow Magnetic Tow Lights part # C6304. However, we do have hardwire options for you as well. The magnets on the tow lights like # C6304 are strong but I am not sure if they will work well enough with a plastic cover over the metal bumper of your Jeep.
