Today we're taking a look at a replacement long standoff extension adapter. This fits the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Rack, part number TH963PRO. It simply replaces a lost or damaged extension adapter. It's made from a durable steel construction. It is a direct replacement part straight from the manufacturer. And with this part number, you get one replacement adapter and when you're installing, you can see it has this hex shaped design.
That's because you can use a wrench or a socket to get it fully installed.You can use a five-eighth inch or a 16 millimeter wrench or socket on this adapter.That's going to do it for today's look at the the replacement long standoff extension adapter. Again, this fits the Thule Spare Me 2, part number TH963PRO.

This metal part fell out of the cheap paper envelope it was packed in. I had to call and have another shipped out which caused me to not be able to use the rack for the trip I purchased it for. I didn’t install the “second” new part until over a month later since I didn’t have a second trip planned until then. During installation, the bolt broke off in the receiver which means I now need another new part that I’ve already ordered twice AND a new receiver so I’m out $85 more AND still can not use the rack for my second trip. Customer service said “Sorry, we can’t help you”. What a HORRIBLE way to do business…

-- comment by: Blake - 03/03/2022I did hear back from my contact at Thule. They advised that when installing the rack, you would need to make sure that rack is sitting flush as well as the knob. There should not be any gaps as if there are, it will cause the rack to move about. You should also be using the tie down strap to also minimize movement of the rack.

Exactly what we needed to use the bike rack on a vehicle with a larger spare tire. We did need the long mounting bracket as well. Bike rack is solid!

The product I ordered was great, however the real credit for the order goes to etrailer. I called the manufacture direct who stated we will call you back to see if the item is available and if we can sell it to you, never called back. I have ordered before from etrailer and had excellent results , so I was excited when I found I could do so again. the parts I needed were unique and hard to find, but etrailer had them, and at a more than reasonable price. Btw. I got the parts and they work perfectly.

Great attachment for over-sized tires when using the Thule Spare Me bike rack. But I hope you benefit from my mistakes ... I should have checked my bike rack prior to purchasing. Ends up even with my over-sized tires, the standard mount worked!!

My new spare tire is wider than the old one, so the bike rack's threaded rod no longer reached the post. I have been using a Thule Spare Me on my 2005 LJ for the last year. Unfortunately, when I upgraded to 31x10.5 Duratracs, my bike rack no longer fit on the spare tire. Before spending a ton of money on a new hitch rack, I did a quick google search and found these products. By combining the long mounting bracket and the long standoff extension adapter I was able to keep using my original bike rack. Installation was a breeze and shipping was insanely fast. I rarely leave reviews like this, but I will be a long-time customer if this kind of service keeps up!

Used this to mount the Thule rack on my large spare tire. This should help those with larger tires like me. Also, I put my body weight on it and it was solid, didn't move the bike rack at all. Glad I found this part, I recommend this to all fellow fat tire Jeepers out there.
