Trailer Wiring and Brake Controller to Bypass Wiring of 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser

Question:

I have a 1999 Land Cruiser. Sometime in the mid 2000s there was a recall on the factory brake controller module. Mine was replaced, however it had failed again and blew all associated circuits including the ABS, cruise control and running lights. My question is: Would this Kit, the 119250KIT be a better alternative for my vehicle? The latest failed unit was a Curt so I am hesitant to use it again as a replacement. Thank you.

For trailer wiring for your 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser that would allow you to bypass all of the factory wiring the part # 119250KIT would be perfect for that as it would connect directly to your taillights without splicing into your current wires.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
