Specs:

  • Dimensions: 2" wide x 9' long
  • Safe working load limit (WLL): 2,000 lbs
  • Maximum load (break strength): 6,000 lbs
  • Quantity: 2 ratchet straps
  • 2-Year warranty

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

ShockStrap Ratcheting Tie-Downs

These one-of-a-kind ratchet straps from ShockStrap are great for nearly any application, from securing your cargo for your next weekend getaway, to strapping down your favorite toys on your trailer. The 9' length of the straps is perfect for securing farm equipment, like cattle panels and water tanks, or for tying down a motorcycle or UTV in your truck bed or trailer.

ATV tied down using the ShockStrap ratcheting tie-down

Unlike traditional straps, which don't stretch or contract, these tie-downs are uniquely designed with built-in shock absorbers that allow the straps to maintain constant tension on your load as you travel. This is great for bikes and UTVs, which have suspension systems that can compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain.

Built-In Shocks

The webbing of standard straps can't stretch or contract to absorb impacts. As a result, standard tie-downs might become detached from their anchor points, or they may become slack around your gear as the load shifts.

But these ratchet straps each feature 2 built-in urethane shocks that are designed to absorb impact and to allow give. This ensures that the tie-downs stay taut and won't loosen over time. The built-in shocks help to keep the tie-downs from coming loose or failing, which could result in lost or damaged gear.

In addition, the shocks ensure a longer life for the strap webbing. If you use these to tie down a UTV, for example, the constant compressing and rebounding of the UTV's suspension during travel can wreak havoc on ordinary straps. The webbing is likely to experience more wear and tear as it rubs along your gear. But the ShockStrap's shocks absorb these jolts so that the webbing of the tie-downs stays put instead of wearing over the edges of your equipment.

Easy-to-Use Ratchet

Close-up of open ShockStrap ratchet

Each tie-down features a commercial-grade, field-replaceable ratchet that is easy to use. To release the ratchet, grab the oversized handle and pull on the release lever. The release lever is positioned on the outside of the ratchet to ensure safe and easy operation, even if you're wearing gloves.

How to Use the ShockStrap Ratchet Straps

To use the ShockStrap ratcheting tie-down strap, first attach one of the sturdy double J-hooks to a desired anchor point. Then stretch the strap over your cargo and secure the other hook to a point on the opposite side of your truck or trailer. Each hook has a wide opening, making it hassle-free to maneuver and attach the hooks to your anchor points.

ATV tied down in a inclosed trailer by a ShockStrap ratcheting tie-down

Soft loops, which are on both sides of the strap, can be used to tie down a piece of equipment that may otherwise be difficult to secure. So instead of using the hooks, which may scratch or scuff your toys and might be difficult to run through or around other cargo, you can easily cinch each tie-down around your gear. Just wrap a soft tie around the axle of your UTV or around the handlebars of your motorcycle, and then secure the tie-down to your anchor points as usual.

Once the hooks are in place, tighten the webbing around the cargo and activate the shocks. To tighten the strap, crank the ratchet mechanism until the webbing is taut around your load. Be sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shocks and the safety strap, the strap is too tight.

To activate the shocks, tighten the strap a bit more, stretching the shocks until light is visible through the bolt holes in each shock. In warm climates, the shocks can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give.

Finally, after tightening the webbing and stretching the shocks, make sure your cargo is completely secure and then tie off any extra slack.

Additional ShockStrap accessories can be added to help with load securement. Use the ShockStrap strap latches (297-2STY - sold separately) to secure the hooks on these tie-down straps to anchor points, ensuring that the hooks won't pop off while you are securing your load or while you are traveling.

Strong, Durable Construction

The sturdy, UV-resistant polyester webbing of these tie-down straps has a high tolerance for abrasion and water absorption.

The shocks are made of urethane, which can withstand elements such as sunlight, saltwater, moisture, oil, fungi, and most chemicals. These shocks can function in nearly any temperature, holding up to hot and cold weather conditions without losing elasticity or becoming unyielding or brittle over time.

The rust-resistant, yellow zinc chromate coating on the ratchet and hardware holds up to the varying weather conditions.

A safety strap is also built into each tie-down to provide peace of mind should something happen to the shocks. This safety strap ensures that if the tie-down is used improperly, overloaded, or unduly stretched, your cargo will remain secured.

I should have bought the straps that bolt to the trailer.
These work but not much need for the shock feature or the loops at the end of the strap.

by:

I was looking for tie down straps to haul my ATV as well as my garden tractor. The standard straps were okay but did seem to loosen up after traveling for awhile. So I took a chance on these ones based on the details one etrailer as well as reviews. I have not been disappointed. They worked as described and do not loosen in transit. I would definitely purchase again.

Comments
Still working very well and not showing any signs of wear. Sure is nice to have straps that do not loosen in travel.

exactly as advertised

Geesh these are really large! Bought these over the 1.5" as it was almost the same price. But now getting them, I almost wish I got the small version for our Dirt Bikes. But these will for sure more then do! Heck.. I could even use them to pull a car out of a mud pit with these 2"ers. I'll keep them vs swapping for the smaller..

One year later and theres still like a tank.

These shock straps are great for hauling our ATV. We had been using just regular ratchet straps and had to stop several times to tighten them back up, but with these shock straps, they stay tight the whole trip! They are truly wonderful!

Comments
They are the most wonderful straps ever! My ATV doesnt move an inch on my trailer. These are the best straps ever!

Looks like an excellent product from all the reviews and highly recommended by Dirt Trax TV. Delivery was good although it was one day late but not e-trailers fault. The tracking was excellent. I could see where my package was at any moment. Will post more once I actually use the product.

Comments
Have been using them for awhile now and absolutely love them. Easy to use, strong. Definitely recommend to anyone needing a good tie down.

I have a Polaris Ranger I trailer over a very rough road several times a year. Normal straps Have never been able to hold and always become loose requiring additional tightening several times during the journey. I purchased four ShockStraps and they work great. They allow the Ranger to move slightly which reduces the bounce of the trailer on rough dirt roads. Also, I have peace of mind on the freeway that the straps will stay tight. I have been using them about a year and recommend them highly.

by:

Bought these straps to haul a tractor cross country. I don't typically transport equipment like this and don't have a lot of experience. Pricing out chains and binders was going to be expensive for a single move. I have experienced the webbing straps going slack over time while hauling items in my truck, so was worried about using webbing straps instead of chains. I ran across these shock straps via a YouTube demonstration. So I bought a set of four. These work fantastic! The first time I put tension on the straps it was obvious how well this concept works. I did have some questions on the proper tensioning of the straps so I called the 800 number. A live person answered on the second ring and helped me verify I was getting the tension correct. It a great product and extremely great customer support! Highly recommend the product and the company.

by:

I would not pay extra money for this product again as I'm not sure what the expandable piece really does. I've used it for a motor cycle and afraid if I ratchet too tightly, I might break a part of the cycle. Also, the fixed part of the strap is too long.

Comments
After using the straps for one year and on motorcycles, atv and utv I still feel there are not worth the price charged for this product. I am more convinced the rubber is a gimmic and not necessary if the user knows how to use ratcheting straps properly. I also quit using them on a small cycle trailer as the fixed part is too long.

Had the straps for awhile now - hauled my cars several time and not once did the straps loosen up - in the past, loose straps was always a concern and I would need to stop every so often to check them - now that I have these straps, I've reached a level of confidence with them that I'll run 3-4 hours or more and never check them - they really are awesome!!

Comments
Its been a year since I bought these straps and I have hauled cars, frames and tractors without a single issue - as long as they are tighten properly, I dont even to check them - great product

by:

The straps are excellent when traveling with my RZRs in our Toy Hauler and utility trailers. Only issue, was ordered two sets of 2", but etrailer.com sent me one set of 2", and the other had one 2" and one 1.5". Unfortunately, we were headed out of town and didn't fix the issue. We adjusted with additional straps, as we have more than on UTV.

by:

I haven't used my yet but a friend of my let me use his before I bought my. What a good product. I used the shock straps to tie down my utv on a trailer. I had to drive down some rough dirt roads and a logging road to get to our hunting shack. When I went to unload the utv, the straps were still tight and attached to the utv, not like the old ratchet straps I had. A lot of times the straps was unhooked laying in the trailer or they would be missing. Excellent product, I would recommend this product for sure!!!!

by:

The straps are great. They do not come loose or stretch after getting wet. They hold my Polaris RZR to the trailer no matter what the conditions are. They are more expensive, but well worth the cost to not have to worry about the trailer cargo shifting during transport.

by:

I been riding off road and haling my toys for over 30 years . These are hands down the best tie down straps on the market . I even use them for work and my company is considering buying these for our shipping department .

Thank you
Alex B.

by:

I really like that the actual hooks are long and curved perfectly for my trailer tie-down bracket. 9 ft is plenty long for car tie-down too.

by:

Way heavier than I expected. Bought them for trailering our motorcycle, First test will be Daytona Bike week in March. As for etrailer, top notch service. Fast shipping and the best selection I have found. My go to trailering needs.

by:

Fantastic straps - they do not loosen up over rough roads.
Great buy!

Comments
Shock Straps are absolutely the best! I pull my ATVs off road a lot on some pretty bad dirt roads. They have NEVER loosened up. They are great!

Let me tell you about a great company named etrailer. I can't believe how quickly my order arrived! The shockstrap brand ratchet straps have BEEFY hardware ready to ensure my side by side stays securely on its trailer.

by:

I order from each etrailer.com on a regular basis this last time I only got part of what I ordered and when I called they immediately shipped out the rest of it in No questions asked very easy.

by:

These are great!!! Just got back from a 1200 mile Round trip to Tennessee. Used these to strap down 2 SXS. These straps didn’t loosen on bit.

Comments
Been on several long trips using these to secure my Honda Pioneer and never has once loosen. Theyre pricey but would trust these straps to secure any load.

Everything is well made, nice easy to use handles. Straps have longer than usual hooks as well which ensures they always latch in well to where ever you may want to hook them.

  • Recommended Ratchet Straps for Securing 1500 lb UTV
The # 297-7RSBB-UTV ShockStrap ratchet kit you'd looked at wouldn't have enough capacity to handle the 1500 lb weight of your UTV. Two sets of the # 297-9RSDB would offer a WLL (working load limit) of 2000 lbs which would be perfect for a UTV of that size. The straps measure 2 inches wide by 9 feet long when fully extended. The shock absorbing properties of the straps make them ideal for UTV's and motorcycles. If you click the provided link, you can see a demonstration video for the straps...

Both of these kits include four straps, but a single strap can be purchased using # 297-7RSBB.
