Fastway Weight Distribution System for Trailer with 270 lbs Tongue Weight Dry
Question:
You state total tongue weight should include all weight behind the vehicles rear axle. My question is, should the weight of the hitch receiver and weight distribution system be included in the equation. They are both behind the rear axle. The trailer I intend to purchase has a tongue weight of 270 lbs. The receiver hitch I am considering weighs 44 lbs. The weight distribution system weighs 80 lbs. Total weight = 394 lbs. The weight distribution system I am looking at is the Fastway 94-00-0600. Would this be a good choice. Thanking you in advance,

The weight of your trailer hitch and weight distribution system do not count as tongue weight when determining the overall tongue weight for the selection of a weight distribution system. This is a good question that comes up on occasion and our contacts at our WD system manufacturers state that neither get counted as tongue weight.
Based on the numbers you listed the Fastway system to use would be the part # FA92-00-0450 instead as it has a tongue weight range of up to 450 lbs. For a ball you would want the part # 40038 for a 2 inch ball. For a 2-5/16 inch ball you would want the part # C40007.
