This is how a 72 year old guy and a small dog installed a 50 lb. trailer hitch in about 40 minutes. It was too easy. I thought about using a bucket to support one side while bolting down the other side but came to my senses. This hitch fit precisely on my 98 Ford F 100.

Trailer hitch is still firmly attached and is perfect for towing small utility trailer. Couldnt be happier with the purchase. I still cant believe how easy it was to install.

1998 Ford F-150 and F-250 Light Duty

I have a 1998 F 150 SWB stepside 4.2 V6 2WD and was about to purchase a car dolly but the ramps touched the ground when installed on the bumper hitch. I purchased the Curt hitch and installation was a snap, couldn't get any easier. Delivery was in a timely manner and I couldn't be happier.

by:

Perfect fit!

by:
1997 FordF-150

I ordered this hitch for my '97 F-150 to tow a small travel trailer. It arrived in a timely manner. As promised, the hitch bolted into existing holes in the truck frame with the included hardware. I did have to put some spacers on the bumper to get it to squeeze in there, but that may have been because of a little fender bender in the past. Other than that, the hitch went on easily, and seems to work well. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

by:
1997 Ford F-150 and F-250 Light Duty

Hitch works great. Install took some muscle, but it's strong and secure.

by:
2004 Ford F-150 Heritage Series

at 63 years of age first new hitch needed a second truck to move trailers always got used had to chase hardware wire brush paint splice wires try to find relays wife said buy new got hitch best part has id sticker with weight cert no more dot wars bought plug and play plugs worth the money fast shipping great guys to do business with thanks aaa plus rating note about 20 minutes install hitch/plug /brake controller

by:

Purchase was easy, website is very user friendly. Shipping process was excellent, I received my purchase on time as scheduled. Install was the only issue. One of the arms was bent inward so the bolts/holes did not line up perfectly to the frame of my truck. I had to start the bolts on one side of the hitch then push the other side outward until the holes lined up. Install time was less than 20 minutes with two people. I would recommend this product and would purchase again.

by:
1997 FordF-150

The hitch receiver fit my '97 F150 perfectly and went on easily, even for a non-mechanic like myself. About the only difficult thing was handling it myself (with two people no problem), but I solved that by using a crate to hold up one side while I started the other. Next time I need a hitch I would definitely buy from etrailer.com again.

by:
2003 FordF-150

First class construction. Quality materials. Installation took about 30 minutes. Fit all my F-150 mounting holes perfectly. The price for the receiver is a fair price for a very good product. I would buy it again without hesitation.

by:
2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Install was so easy I was able to do it myself. Great fit

by:
2004 FordF-150

I installed this hitch receiver by myself in less than an hour. I didn't time it but probably between 30-40 minutes. I did not let the spare down as I had plenty of clearance without doing so. I placed all the bolts through their holes, then I braced one side of the receiver up with my knee while I started a nut on the other side. Once I had that side secured, I did the same for side I was holding up with my knee. After that it was a piece of cake to get the remaining 4 nuts started and them all tightened down. I installed this on a red 2004 Ford F150 Heritage edition 4x4. I haven't towed with it yet but it seems sturdy and looks great. I must compliment etrailer on their service. They kept me well informed as to the status of my order and it was shipped and received quickly. Great service!

by:

Was very pleased with how fast it was delivered. And very happy with the installation of the trailer hitch easy and fast. Thanks for all your service.

2003 FordF-150

Received my trailer hitch in three days, My wife helped me install the hitch in less than 35 minutes. Couldn't believe how easy it was just 3 bolts on each side. I have a 2003 Ford F150. Installed without even lowering the spare tire.

by:

Hitch Receiver was an exact fit. Bolt holes lined up perfect. Was able to install by myself in 30 minutes.

by:
2000 FordF-150

The installation on my 2000 F150 was easy with no modifications required. Fit and finish are excellent. Great product.

by:

Fits a 2003 f150, install was easy with the help of a couple ratchet straps.

My wife was disappointed with the installation. S used to the cussing and carryings on when I start a project but was deprived of a show this time. Half-hour, it was done.

  • Which Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver Should I Get For My 1999 Ford F-150 Pickup?
The only differences in the 3 Curt Trailer Hitch Receivers # 13355, # C13038 and # 13359 for your 1999 Ford F-150 XL Flairside, is the construction and shape of the receiver cross tube and mounting plates. Of these 3 I would choose the Receiver # C13038. The reason I prefer the Receiver # C13038 is its basic design. The cross tube is straight steel square tubing, this is much stronger than tubing that has a bend in it and the welding area of the square tubing is more than the same outer...

  • Will All of the Aftermarket Trailer Hitches Designed for a 2002 Ford F-350 Have the Same Drop?
The amount of recess and drop is really similar on all the hitches for your 2002 Ford F-350. For the least amount of drop, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13355 or the # C14355. They both have the 2-1/2 inches from the outside of the bumper to the center of the hitch pin and the 18-1/2 inch measurement from the ground to the top of the inner receiver tube. These hitches have the least amount of ground clearance restriction. The # C13014...

  • comparing Curt Class III and IV Trailer Hitches for a 2001 Ford F-150
The main difference between the Curt trailer hitch # C14355 and hitch # 13355, is capacity. Both hitches feature a 2 inch receiver. Both hitches will fit on your truck if it has a 20 inch or smaller spare tire. But the key is the weight capacity of each hitch. The Class IV trailer hitch, # C14355, has a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 pounds, and a gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. When used with weight distribution, those ratings increase to 1,200/12,000 pounds. Keep in...

  • Powering Reverse Lights on Pop-Up Camper with 6-Way Trailer Connector
The idea you propose, using a switch to power your reverse lights using the 12-volt accessory circuit off of your 6-way trailer connector would most likely work. I would first recommend you find out where that 12-volt circuit terminates on the trailer. Some pop-up campers have a battery for interior lights. The 12-volt accessory circuit keeps that battery maintained. Had you not already purchased the OEM 6-way replacement connector, I would have recommended going with the 7-way replacement,...
