Features:

  • Improves functioning and overall performance of transmission
  • Extends life of transmission and prolongs period between necessary fluid changes
  • Cuts down on heat-related failures
  • Agitates fluid with built-in, embossed turbulators for more efficient cooling
  • Constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum
    • Thermal-conductive metal provides excellent transfer of heat
  • Includes:
    • High-temperature, OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps
    • Nylon mounting rods
    • Insta-dapt radiator adapter
  • Recommended for small to mid-size trucks and SUVs
  • Imported

Specs:

  • Inlets: 11/32" hose barb
  • Overall dimensions: 13" wide x 7-1/2" tall x 3/4" deep
  • Core width: 10-1/8"
  • Distance between inlets: 6-1/4"
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

Wanted to give my Honda better ability to handle a tow. this baby does the job. Transmission definitely cooler operation since the install. The install was simple and straight forward.

so far so great. Tho sometimes I have to remind the transmission service guys to add a bit more fluid then they are use to.

2005 Honda Pilot

After one of use on a 2005 Honda Pilot, everything is holding up just fine. The one star less is because of the difficulty in installing it on this particular vehicle. Although this is a universal component, it is MUCH easier to install on pickup trucks. Best of luck with a brand new rubber hose going on with any sort of ease.

Our installers typically use some transmission fluid to make installing the rubber hose on the Insta-dapt fitting easier.

2009 Audi A6

I purchased this for my C6 Corvette A6 transmission. I did, however, bypass the radiator and only use the transmission cooler for the C6. I purchased and used the Derale Radiator Adapter fitting 259-13035 for both the top and bottom and just capped them off to keep debris out of the reservoir. I also had to make some custom mounting brackets. This is an excellent product and it keeps the tranny in a great temperature range.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Can't say anything bad about the unit. It was installed in a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I use to haul trailers occasionally that weigh up to 6000 lbs. So far, I've never overheated the transmission at all, which I attribute to the addition of this cooler. Once again, thanks for a great product.

1999 Toyota 4Runner

Ive got a 1999 4runner that had the unfortunate luck of having the integrated transmission cooler line rupture inside my radiator. needless to say, the transmission didnt agree very well with having engine coolant running through it and finally died out on me. I bought this transmission cooler to isolate the transmission and the engine cooling systems. The cooler arrived a day ahead of schedule, which is always a bonus. I didnt rate it at 5 stars because I havent had a chance to install it yet and see how it performs, but judging by the reviews that I have read so far, the customer service provided and the prompt delivery, I would say that this transmission cooler will keep my truck running for a good long while. Everything pictured arrived in the box and I have no doubt that it will perform as expected. I will definitely recommend this product and this company to my friends!

by:

Very easy install, absolutely no leaks anywhere in the system after putting it into service. I did have to get additional hose for the install due to the location I chose for the cooler (personal preference). I centered it on the bumper side of the radiator to provide the best air flow. Remember to get a quart of transmission fluid to accomodate the larger system volume after the install. I took my grill off to provide the most room for putting the cooler in rather than trying to wedge it between the radiator and grill, made install the nylon fasteners through the radiator and cooler much easier. Should last for many years.

by:

The trans cooler was easy to install. I had to go and buy some more hose and mounting screws to make it work but I knew that before I started. The hose was because of where I wanted it mounted. The trans cooler is keeping the transmission about 30 to 40 deg cooler then before.

2012 Nissan Rogue

I ordered this cooler for my daughter's 2012 Nissan Rogue to fix CVT transmission heating up causing it to into limp mode. When I got ready to install, I found there was no place to connect the hoses to the transmission. The vehicle only had the direct "bee hive" cooler. Install was delayed while waiting to get a "4 tube bee hive" from a different supplier for an additional $114.

2006 Chevrolet Colorado

for my 06 colorado with the 2.8l i4. also used the derale trans oil thermostat to help with warmup of trans fluid in winter. trans never gets above 190F now and the engine will overheat (212F) before the trans does. perfect upgrade for a light duty truck/van/car to provide a little bit of cooling at a compact size. very satisfied with the product

by:

The part itself was easy to install and it does what it is designed to do. Only trouble with installation was with the vehicle, I had to remove part of the front cover on my 09' Avalanche to get to it. Also, I wish I had bought a black one to blend in with the rest of the radiator.

Ford Flex

We installed a tow package on our Ford Flex. The transmission cooler was challenging, but everything else went smoothly. The product works perfectly.

by:

Nice inexpensive transmission cooler. Simple installation, although I didn't use the through radiator plastic ties supplied. Drops transmission temperatures well.

by:
2008 Chevrolet Silverado

This product is great and installation was not bad at all. Only issue I had was that the GM radiator adaptor should come with this unit when you purchase it for a GM truck. Not as an add-on. Thought I could get it at GM but no go. I Had to work with hoses over 30 min to get them over the fittings even with trans. fluid on the hose and male fitting. So far it looks like trans temp has dropped 30 dg.

Great product. Delivery was quick.
Thanks to all, no picture at this time, trucks on the road.

Easy install, works great. Installed on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I tow a 19' boat and haven't had any transmission issues since.

The transmission cooler, along with all the other products I ordered from etrailer was an excellent buy. they arrived on time and in excellent condition. The best benefit of ordering from etrailer is the superior customer service. I was even able to talk directly with one of their installers when I had a question.

  • Can the Inlet/Outlet Fittings on Trans. Cooler Point Down on a 2006 Chevy Colorado
It would not be required that you mount a Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, part # D12906, in any particular direction, the line pressure from the transmission will push the fluid through the cooler regardless of if its mounted horizontally, vertically or any direction in between. I would recommend you choose a location based on receiving maximizing airflow through the cooler, regardless of what direction it points. I would also recommend you get a Derale Snap-In Radiator...

  • Suitability of 2008 Jeep Compass for Towing Trailer Weighing 1800 Lbs
If the weights you have given me are correct, you should be able to tow the trailer. Keep in mind that you are less than 200 lbs away from your towing capacity. Any extra gear on that trailer could place you over the towing capacity of your Compass which could possibly cause damage to the hitch or the vehicle. Since you are so close to the towing capacity of the vehicle, a transmission cooler would be a wise investment. I would recommend the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler,...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder Towing a 1900 lb Trailer
There really is not a down side to using a transmission cooler on a vehicle. It has been proven that transmission coolers will prolong the life of a transmission. Especially when the vehicle is towing a trailer. I would strongly recommend you install one since you will be pulling a 1,900 lb trailer with your 1995 Nissan Pathfinder. The power switch might enhance the shift points so that it will perform better while towing, but it will not prevent excess heat from building up in your transmission...

The Class of transmission cooler you use will depend more on where you can mount it. The most efficient place is in front of the AC condenser. You could then use a Class I cooler, like # D12901. If mounted behind the condenser, I would go with a Class II like # D12906. If mounted behind the radiator I would go with a Class III like # D13502. The problem is that the further away from the front of the vehicle a cooler is mounted, the less airflow it receives. The less airflow a coolers...
