Bikes loaded on tailgate

Softride Shuttle Pad gives you an inexpensive way to carry up to 6 bikes and save space in your pickup bed. Sling your bikes over your tailgate with the front wheels outside the truck bed, and carry lots of other gear in the room you'll save in comparison with other truck-bed bike racks that carry the whole bike in the bed. Designed specifically for hauling mountain bikes but will work with other types as well.

Straps from inside of tailgate showing buckles

The pad is constructed of rugged vinyl and is cushioned to protect your truck and your bikes from scratches and abrasions. The pad secures with 4 sturdy straps that wrap around your tailgate and attach with adjustable buckles.

Closeup of tether and tie-down strap

A tether runs across the top of the pad to securely hold your bicycles. You attach each bike with a wrap that loops around the bike frame and then under the tether, finally attaching to itself with an easy-to-use Velcro fastener.

Bikes and surfboards loadedLumber loaded

The pad doubles as a tailgate protector for other long loads, such as ladders, lumber, kayaks and surfboards. And you can combine the included wraps to secure wider cargo to the tether.

Tailgate cover in open position

Your tailgate handle is protected, yet easily accessible, covered by a flap that secures with a convenient Velcro fastener.

2014 Dodge Ram Pickup

The fit for a 2014 Ram was spot on, no issue with the wide style tailgate top and the access flap for the tailgate handle lined up perfectly. Material is durable and easy to clean, the only thing holding it from a 5 stars is if it had the padded dividers on top to keep the bikes separated. But for the price, the fit and finish was exceptional, great value !!!

The product review/installation video helped me make my selection. I selected the full size pad for 2001 Silverado 1500. Installs easily, fits nicely, flap in pad is positioned for easy access to tailgate latch.

by:

This is my second - I'm replacing one that has worn out over 4 years of use. Used. Worn out. Worn hard. I like it enough I came back for another. Yes, the seams finally pull apart, and the fabric weathers - even the top strap broke. After four years. And I came back for another. This is a great product and mine has paid for itself over and over. Whether hauling one bike, two, three, or four. Highly recommended.

by:

Love it, used it this weekend. Easy to install, easy to use. Bikes were secure no bouncing around. Quick service :)

Ive heard some of these tailgate covers dont work well with the new 2014 Ram 1500 because the top of the tailgate is wide. Can you comment on how well this product would fit my truck? The Thule version has a video showing it being fit onto a 2014 Ram 2500 which has the same tailgate as my truck, but that pad only holds two bikes according to this site and I need to hold 3 or more.So I guess I have two questions:1 will this product fit a 2014 Ram 1500 tailgate2 can the Thule tailgate pad hold more than two bikes? Thanks

The Tailgate Pad will work on your 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 with a wider tailgate profile. However, with the wider profile the flap that allows access to your tailgate latch may not line up perfectly. This pad has a capacity of up to 6 bikes.

by:

Great product, this is my second one! Between environmental elements and use…just wore the other one out

by:

Works perfect!

by:
2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

So far the tailgate pad is great. The only down side I have found is threading the straps through the tailgate hinge area. I have to use a needle nose pliers to grab and pull them through. Can’t get at them with my fingers. Other than that the product works as advertised.

Product is great. Holding up well and I use it often. Still the same issue with threading the straps but is not difficult. I would order it again if I needed another similar product.

by:

Product exceeded expectations. It is constructed with durable materials, ample strapping locations and thick padding. I highly recommend shopping at etrailer. Product was delivered very quickly and customer service followed up the day it was delivered.

Product has lasted and is like new one year later.

2012 Ford F-150

This is truly a simple, yet effective product. I was debating whether to install an expensive bike rack on my trailer or on my truck when I came across a post on etrailer.com about this product. I purchased the pad and was able to carry my four bikes easily with room to spare. I have a 5 1/2 foot bed and was able to carry camping supplies along with our clothes and linens for 4 people for a 4 night stay at a campsite. My 2012 Ford F-150 XLT has a bed liner but it did not affect the product's performance. I used a 36" bungee cord for added security across the back wheels of the bikes to ensure it was stationary during transportation. Probably was not needed but it was more for my peace of mind. Much cheaper than a bike rack and easier to install AND remove!

by:
2016 Ford F-150

Awesome product, no more bikes rattling on a rack in the back! A must buy for bikers!

Love the products, thanks

by:

After 5 years, the vinyl was breaking down from constant sun. But I liked it enough to replace it with the same product. A lot more versatile than any other 6 bike carriers on the market. Doesn't waste a trailer hitch. Also protects from lumber, SUP boards, and Kayaks. Works with the tonneau cover I use, too. Both times, I did cut the handle flap that covers up my camera. But that's a 2 minute fix.

by:

This is a great product works great hold bikes down
so you don’t have to worry. Only one thing is getting the straps from pad under tailgate is a little tricky

by:
1997 Ford F-150 and F-250 Light Duty

Received my order in record time & used it today. Great item for carrying bikes, I pull a travel trailer & have to put the bikes inside sometimes - with this I can load the bikes in the truck & still have plenty of room for other stuff.

by:
2017 Toyota Tundra

Ordering was simple with delivery on time. The product is just what I was looking for since I can not use my standard hitch bike carrier when I am pulling my camp trailer. Easy to install with one person, easier with two and it fits very nicely. We are looking forward to using it on our next road trip.

by:

Works really well. We have 5 bikes of varying sizes and this keeps them secure and protects the tailgate.

by:
2013 Toyota Tundra

The seams could be placed differently, so that it sits better on the tailgate.

by:
2003 Ford F-150 Supercrew

It's the best bike rack, for any size truck, it folds up & goes behind your seat's! No extra weight, no rusty metal bike rack hanging off your truck hitch & it holds more bikes!!!!!!

by:

Works just as advertised and is so much easier than hooking up our bike rack!

by:

Easy installation, less than 5 minutes. Fits well.

by:

Works great for hauling my bikes without having to use a bike rack

by:

Just what we needed to take the bikes to nearby parks and trails!
Great for day trips to some small towns in Florida that are easy to bike around in.
Everything seems to work as stated in ad.
I remove them after each trip and store easily in the garage.

by:
2011 Ford F-150

Very convenient to use. Great product! Price was great compared to more well know brands. Good quality and value.

etrailer had great service!!

by:

Pain in the ass to put on. Had the straps been configured in the opposite fashion, it would make getting it on and off much easier. Works great once it is on.

by:

Works great, holds bikes in place and no damage to the lift gate.

by:
2003 Ford F-150

This 61 inch size will not fit a 2003 F150 Supercrew like the add says it will. You need to measure to be sure and not go by what etrailer claims. Otherwise good product if it fits!

  • Can I Use The Yakima Hangover On My Travel Trailer With Non Front Fork Suspension Bikes?
The Yakima HangOver 6 # Y02485 is only compatible with fork suspension bikes due to how the top cradle is designed. You place one fork in between the curved and straight coated stud. If you didn't have forks on your bikes they wouldn't be able to hang properly thus making the rack unusable. It also will not work with travel trailers due to the amount of sway that will happen since it's so far back from the axle of the trailer and the drive axle. With 6 bikes and the heavy carrier on the...

  • Truck Bed Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2010 Toyota Tundra with Roll-Up Tonneau Cover
Most tonneau covers have a rail system that somehow attaches to the side rails on the truck bed. If yours has this same design you will not be able to use the Topline bike rack # UG2500-4 because it also clamps to the bed side rail. If you do have this design, not to worry because there is another option. You could use a Softride Shuttle Pad, # SR26457 for full size trucks. The Front bike wheels will hang over the truck tailgate which will be protected by the Shuttle Pad. The bikes will...

  • Fit of 61 Inch Wide Softride Shuttle Pad # SR16457 on 2015 Nissan Frontier and 2002 Toyota Tundra
The recommended Softride # SR26457 Shuttle Pad for your Tundra is 61 inches wide, while the # SR26461 which would be recommended for a mid-sized pickup like the Frontier is 54 inches wide. You could measure the distance between the two bed sides on the Frontier, but it's not likely that the # SR26457 would fit. If you were to get the narrower # SR26461, you'd be able to use the Shuttle Pad on both trucks. Either size pad can carry up to 6 bikes.
