Recommended Curt Receiver Hitch for 2005 Dodge Magnum RT
Question:
This hitch is the recommended for my 2005 Dodge MAgnum RT wagon?

Curt offers two different receiver hitches for your 2005 Magnum, the Class II you mentioned, part # 12240 or a Class III, part # 13465.
Although both receivers would work great on your vehicle, I always recommend choosing a Class III with a 2 inch receiver opening over the Class II with the 1-1/4 inch opening whenever the option is available. The more common Class III 2 inch receiver will provide a better selection of hitch mounted accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers.
If you were planning on using the receiver as a mounting point for a bike rack or cargo carrier, Curt requires using a stabilizing strap like part # 18050 (see video). Failure to do so would void the hitch warranty.
If you were planning on using the hitch for towing, in addition to the wiring harness, part # C55562 you would also need the following items to complete your towing system:
For the Class III receiver:
Ball mount, part # EBMK4
1-7/8 inch trailer ball, part # 19260
2 inch trailer ball, part # 63849
Pin and clip, part # PC3
Locking Hitch Pin, part # 40107
If you went with the Class II receiver, the ball mount and the pin and clip are included. You might also need:
1-7/8 inch trailer ball, part # A-80
2 inch trailer ball, part # A-82
Locking Hitch Pin, part # e98882
