Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Titan Lunette ring surge type disc brake actuator. Has an 8,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. Basically what happens is when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration will occur and the momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle.

So with this surge type brake system, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. Basically when this happens, this actuator right here will contract, it applies force to the master cylinder back here, and then this, in turn, supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer brakes. This one right up here is a unique top slide roller design. Reduces the resistance during the telescoping to create a nice straight line movement.Now, this one upfront has the integrated three inch Lunette ring for use with pintle hitches. And the three inches is the measurement of the inner circle here on the Lunette ring.

This is a sturdy, durable steel construction. It does resist bending in any jackknife situation. Has a nice sink plating over it to provide corrosion resistance. If you notice on the back here, this is where the master cylinder is located. Has this built-in shield over to protect the master cylinder from any damage.

Now it does include a breakaway kit. Fan hook it here. You can see here's your breakaway cable. This will connect to your tow vehicle. And then this cable activates this lever if there's a runaway situation where your trailer will become disconnected from your tow vehicle.

The breakaway kit will actually apply the brakes to stop it from a runaway situation.Now, this is a bolt on installation. You can see the holes here at the bottom is designed to bolt onto your trailer tongue. Again, the specifications on this, the applications for trailers with disc brakes. Gross towing weight capacity is 8,000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight capacity is 800 pounds. And mounting this, it is designed to mount onto a straight three inch wide trailer tongue. Now note on this is because this model does not include a reverse lockout at the back here, it is recommended that you either install an electric reverse lockout to the back of the master cylinder here. Or equip your trailer with free backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without triggering your trailer's brakes. This electric first lockout and the free backing brakes are both sold separately on our website.
