This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an old or broken air conditioner on your RV or camper. It works with your existing Advent Air or Dometic air distribution box, and it is compatible with Coleman Mach or Carrier setups if used with an adapter wiring kit (ACCOLKIT, ACCARKIT - sold separately). The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 13,500 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't needed. Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

And in order to fully complete installation, this AC needs to be paired with your existing Advent Air, Dometic, Coleman Mach, or Carrier air distribution box and thermostat. Please note that an adapter wiring kit (sold separately) is needed if you are replacing a Coleman Mach or Carrier air conditioner.

Additional Accessories

Additional accessories can be purchased separately to improve the performance of your Advent Air AC unit. The start capacitor (ACMSCKIT) improves the performance of your AC by using stored energy to jumpstart it. And the electric heat strip (ACMHD) removes the chill on cold or frosty mornings in your RV, ensuring you stay comfortable. Please note that the heat strip will only work on Advent Air AC units.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

Replaced an old dometic AC unit with this one. I ended up having to replace the controller as well. The only issue I ran into was the new unit requires AC and DC power. The original unit only had AC. I had to piggy back off of an overhead light for the DC power. Otherwise everything works well.

by:

Great people at etrailer!
I worked with
Rochelle by phone, she was very friendly and knowledgeable. The unit arrived within a few days and was super easy to insall. I bought the 13,500 BTU unit which replaced an old Dometic 15000 BTU unit and it works with plenty of air!. 4 bolts (not included so used the old ones). and one 6 prong plug. Highly recommend and will be shopping here again when I need something next time.

by:

Other than having to remove the existing vent on my popup trailer, which was a bit difficult, the AC unit was easy to install right through the same hole. I had to wire up my own power cord, which didn't come with it, as this unit was primarily meant for RV's with wiring in the roof.

by:

Extremely fast shipping and an easy install! I purchased this unit to replace my original Dometic unit that had been leaking Freon and the transition was flawless.

by:

The order was quick to receive, I talked it over with their specialists and got a direct replacement without the controls. It arrived quick and was easy to install. This was exceptional to have an item that was a quick replacement with no issues. If i need to replace another ill definitely use Advent Air.

by:

This was touted as being a direct replacement for the Dometic AC unit I had on my trailer... and that is EXACTLY what it was.. once I lined up the gasket with where my old AC was I only had to adjust it about 1/4 inch to get perfect alignment... the power plug goes in only one way so even I could install this. Whole process took about 45 mins for removal of the old system to immediately feeling the cold air as soon as I turned this one on. Would definitely do business with etrailer again.

by:

You get personal assistance with all your questions answered. Air Conditioner was shipped out immediately and quickly received in perfect condition. Highly recommend!

by:

The first AC unit came damaged. Not severely, but dented on one side. etrailer's customer support was fantastic. They rushed a new AC unit to me and made arrangements for UPS to pick up the old one.
For those shopping for the AC unit beware, it does not come with bolts and trailer doesn't sell them. My existing bolts were bent, so I had to get a new set on Amazon.

by:

The unit is smaller than the unit I replaced and the fit was perfect at the access way. The Advent was plug and play with the Dometic harness and lower bezel. I couldn't be happier I had to look up torque specs for the gasket, as there were no instructions, but it was just a Google search (33-35 inch pounds)

by:

Easy to install very quite
Blows ice
cold

by:

So far everything is working great great people to work with specialty Paula in customer service very nice lady in this age and time very refreshing to have that helpful ness and care thank you would recommend

by:

Was very impressed with the amount of air that this unit gives from ducts. About half
the weight of a Dometic and half the price.
Easy Installation - hardest part of this was removal of old unit. Will be purchasing more
when other old AC units quit cooling.

by:

This by far was the easiest installation of an RV Rooftop AC Unit! Literally several phillip head screws to undo the switch panel. Then unplug the old unit from the switch panel four 7/16 screws removed and then lift out the old unit. Unscrew the old fan vent with two screws. Screw this back onto the new unit, lift in place and bolt down the new unit. Less than an hour installation. And a great dollar savings over the original unit.

by:

I tried working with a different company (united rv) what a joke.
E-trailer is the best !

by:

Great A.C. and perfect replacement for my Dometic unit that was 21 years old. Easy installation with all of the foam sealant in the right areas.
I would given etrailer five stars but there's two items they can improve on.
1. Better package and bubble wrap for the new roof unit. My cover was cracked on one side due to no secure wrapping.
2. A basic diagram of where to attach the old coolant coil sensor.
Last but not least Etrailer did it again with a affordable product and fast shipping. I'm in South Florida and my travel trailer is 60° in open sun with an out temperature of 95°.
Thanks guys for your outstanding customer service.

by:

This was a replacement for a Carrier V 15,000 roof top. Still using the Carrier control panel and ducting. Runs and cools good but cycles more than our older advent air 13k ductless in the bedroom. Cycling may be caused by the ducting instead of ductless. It is quieter than the old Carrier V and seems to cool the same.

by:

Price was excellent! Shipping was very quick! Installation was plug and play, simply the reverse of removing the old Duotherm Roof AC. I reused the original interior panel with out problems.
Thanks etrailer, I will buy from again.
Some advice to purchaser's: the AC was delivered by 3rd party carrier and left standing on end on the front porch. My dad was an HVAC tech and had told me long ago, "if a refrigerator or AC unit is stored or moved on it's side to leave it upright for 24hours before plugging it in". Good advice. It allows the compressor oil to drain back into the compressor.

by:

Just finished installing this unit and it truly is a direct replacement for Dometic. I feel I got a fair price and shipping was fast. Taking off 1 star because the unit did arrive with a small dent along the base but this did not affect the install or function. Also, there was no install or warranty information included with the unit. Since this is the 2nd time I've had to replace the A/C on my RV, warranty info is kinda important.

by:

The installation was literally plug and play. New unit works well. Advent needs to upgrade their packaging. The first unit I got was damaged. The second was damaged but not as badly. E trailer was excellent in getting me a replacement, shippers are hard on stuff. Really happy with the outcome.

by:

Finally received a month after I ordered the unit with that being said the installation wasn’t too bad however I had to do a little modification due to the 7 inch bolts being a quarter inch shy for my trailer but once I’ve got that figured out the rest was smooth sailing. So we’ll see what happens next Summer as the heat is now winding down.

by:

I’ve only used it on three camping trips but it work great! No problem and ex install.

by:

Awesome company and great service I would highly recommend to anyone looking for there products

by:

Exactly what we needed. Installation was simple and customer service was great.
I ordered 2 new ac’s for my camper. At the time of this review I have only installed 1 but it is working great. I am no professional but I was able to install it by myself. However, I recommend getting help with lifting and lowering the units to and from the roof. I will review the other one once I get it installed.

by:

Easy install and saved some money compared to the other options. Replaced a 20 year old Dometic and the install took about 30 minutes.

by:

Bought unit to replace dead one on our 5th wheel. Our set up is ducted, so there is no air distribution box and the relay box ( where the 110v connects and 6 pin plug connects) was mounted under the old ac units shroud. This is not included with the unit. Unit arrived and install was very straight forward, I had to use the Dometic relay box from the old unit and install a new foam gasket divider for return air. I was up and down in about an hour. Doesn't blow super strong and isn't as quiet as the old unit, but it blows cold and everything works.
Would be nice if Advent included a owners/installation manual, but a quick trip to manualslib.com was all it took to find one.
I will mention that I called etrailer to ask about the relay box and Karen was very helpful and very prompt in getting with sales and tech and then back to me with the answers. Two thumbs up.

  • AC Unit Recommendation for Enclosed Cargo Trailer that is Insulated
The Advent Air Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACM135 that you referenced would work great for your application but since you'll also need the ceiling vent and thermostat your best option is the # ACM135C which is a kit that includes that as well. This will give you great cooling for the smaller room and since you've done a great job insulating the room it will stay cool longer and easier. I am sure some people have successfully ran a generator while travelling but we do not recommend it....

We've checked with Advent Air in the past and they have told us that a 15 degree slant is acceptable for mounting a roof top AC unit but if the slant is more than that you'd need to shim it to get it closer to level. The Camco Universal Fit RV Roof Air Conditioner Gasket Kit # CAM25071 comes with a gasket for a standard 14" x 14" (or 14-1/4" x 141/4") opening as well as leveling pads that are 7/8" and 5/16" thick that you could use.

No, the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners # ACMSCKIT is not required to use the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM135. The Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners # ACMSCKIT will help to jumpstart your A/C if you are not getting enough power to start your A/C. It stores energy that will later be used for the next startup. It is not required to have the start capacitor, but it is a good tool to have.

A 20 amp breaker will allow you to run an RV air conditioner but will limit you to pretty much just that which is why it's tripping for you when it gets really hot. This is inconvenient but is meant for the safety of you and your equipment so you can leave it as just double 20 amps or if you want to upgrade to 30 amp breakers you'll also need to run 10AWG wire from the AC unit to the circuit breaker. You'll also only be able to run both AC units when hooked up to 50 amp service.
