Recommendation for Rewiring Trailer to be Compatible with a 7-Way Trailer Connection
Question:
Hello, I need to rewire a 22foot snowmobile trailer with electric brakes that currently has a 6 pin round connector. My truck 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD has a 7 blade flat connection so I want to eliminate the 6 pin on the trailer side and go with a 7 blade flat. I was looking at options on your website and am looking for a recommendation. This is what I was looking at: 7 way connector: Item # 50-67-005 or Item # H20046 Bonded 4 wire: Item # 16-4B-1 Brake wire: Item # 10-1-1 OR can I use Item # A40W5B to splice into the 7 way connector? Please advise. Thank you.

For your rewiring, I recommend the Bonded 4 Wire - per foot # 16-4B-1. Then use the # 10-2-1 for your trailer brakes. To connect this, I recommend the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box - 10' Long # 277-000141. This will give you a clean connection location and a nice molded cord.
You will also use:
Ring Terminal - 12-10 Gauge Wire - 3/16" Ring ID # 44-5310A
Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 16-14 Gauge - Blue - Qty 10 # DW05744-10
Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 12-10 Gauge - Yellow - Qty 10 # DW05745-10
