Weight Distribution Diagram

Create a more stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.

Selecting a Weight Distribution System

The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.

To determine the proper weight rating for a weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight distribution system.

Bought this hitch to tow my camper with my new 1/2 ton truck. Hitch was a little hard to get adjusted, but that could be i had never done it before. After watching several videos i got it close. I dont think it's perfect, but does its job. Only made 1 trip using it, but it was a 900 mile round trip. Didn't have any problems with sway, and hitch is very quiet when turning. Overall very good purchase hopefully get to use it more in the future.

by:

The best weight distribution hitch that I have ever purchased. Very easy to mount. No worries about backing up. I have pulled the enclosed trailer in very windy condition’s and trailer had just slightly movement. Highly recommend.

by:

The hitch has worked great for our toy hauler. I’ve never experienced a failure nor has it been noisy. Setup is a bit tricky to those not having experience with adjustable hitches. The adjustment is nice but can be confusing at first time set up. The bars are easy to latch and create amazing stability on the road, I never feel the trailer behind me even on windy trips. Be sure to double check measurements and torque specs and this hitch will serve you great

by:

The hitch itself seems well made and should work fine. The directions were an embarrassment to Curt and etrailer. There were no instructions on how to make the different adjustments needed to set up a WDH. The instructions were downright wrong in several areas (talked about WD chains - there are no chains in this design) (Talked about washers to set ball angle - no washers in this design). Clearly translated by someone who does know what a hitch is. No torque values for the important bolts. I know this is a low-cost hitch but a high-quality business like etrailer ought to reconsider carrying this product.

Based on your review I believe that you may have received the incorrect manual with the Curt weight distribution. I am sending an email with a link to the manual.

by:

Relatively easy to install and makes a bid difference in the handling and weight distribution.

by:

Don’t like the sloppy hitch when starting and stopping

If the WD shank is feeling loose, then I would recommend an anti-rattle device like part # RM-061 to help tighten it up.

by:

Absouletly did the trick I pull a 30’ enclosed snowmobile trailer and with the Curt Tru Track she never sways even in high winds

by:

Doing the installation and setup, then I will give a review after towing my 7000 lb toy hauler. The box came a bit torn, but all of the components and hardware was included. I really like etrailer.com for their fast response anytime that I order from them.

Items were in stock and shipped fast.

by:

by:

Very stout and very easy to install.!!

by:

Shipped quickly as stated & arrived in good condition. The instructions made it easy to install. I pulled a 16' cargo trailer over a 1000 miles without any issues & was very stable.

by:

I installed this unit and used it to tow a 25' Airstream with a new Land Rover Defender 110. It was easy to install and worked perfect (I had to install the hitch ball, which requires a high rated torque wrench). The difference in the drive was immediately noticeable, and I drove all through the mountains this weekend with more confidence than ever. I highly recommend.

Super fast delivery and excellent communication. Always a pleasure to do business with etrailer.

  • Can Curt TruTrack 2P C69JR Be Disconnected With Truck at About 45 Degree Angle From Trailer?
You'll still be able to disconnect the Curt TruTrack 2P # C69JR from your trailer even though you're not perfectly in a straight line at a 45 degree angle, but you may need to use the trailer jack to take extra tension off the bars to get them to come loose. Since the bars pivot in the head assembly being at an angle won't make a huge deal when it comes to disconnecting the bars.

  • Comparing Blue Ox 2-Point and Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution Systems for a FR Wolf Pup 17JG
Generally speaking, it is not advisable to reverse a trailer when using a weight distribution system. The system won't blow up but if you reverse at too sharp an angle then you can damage the head so you have to do so in a pretty straight line or not at all. If you want to reverse at an angle you'll need to disengage the spring bars which is pretty simple. That said, the Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution Systems like part # C69JR and Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution Systems like part...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Pulling 5,350LB Trailer
I recommend using the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-1000 for your trailer with the 2 UTV's. This system is also rated for a trailer up to 10,000lbs but has a much wider spread tongue weight capacity of 600-1,000lbs. The Curt # C69JR you found requires 800-1,000lbs of tongue weight which is going to be higher than you are going to have on your trailer. Typically tongue weight should fall around 10-15% of the trailer total weight. With a total weight around 5,350lbs you should...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for 10,000 lbs V Nose Car Hauler
I have a solution for you but the Curt item # C69JR only has a 1,000 lbs tongue weight capacity. If your car hauler is loaded anywhere near its maximum capacity especially with that short tongue you will be way over 1,000 lbs. Instead I recommend the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control item # C17501. This system has a 1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs tongue weight. You will need to measure the length of your Cynergy Car Hauler's tongue to confirm the 35" long trunnion bars...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For A 2007 Toyota Tundra Toying A Car Hauler Trailer
The Timbren's you have on your Tundra wouldn't interfere with a weight distribution hitch so they would be worth keeping on and using both to help support your suspension. To find the right weight distribution hitch for your setup we'll need to know the fully loaded tongue weight of the trailer. Each weight distribution hitch is going to have a tongue weight range and it's best to be around the middle of that range so that you have some room to work with. Yes, it is possible for the Frame Brackets # C17508 to sag on your Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System # C69JR. Even the Trunnion Spring Bar # C17536 can begin to warp over time from the weight. While Curt does give this weight distribution a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defect this type of stuff is considered normal wear and tear from being used.
