Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.

Slipper leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. The eye of this spring will attach to the front hanger with a suspension bolt. The flat slipper end of the spring will slide into the rear hanger. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the slipper end will slide into the equalizer that connects multiple springs. The shape of the slipper end of a leaf spring may vary slightly due to differences among trailer manufacturers. Because of this, it's important to check your leaf spring's slipper end before purchasing a replacement spring.

To mount this spring, you will need hangers, a suspension bolt, and possibly a spring keeper bolt, depending on the design of the rear hanger. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer, but it would be wise to replace the bolts as they can experience wear. It is also recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.

If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

Product looks to be fine, but one spring was half out of the box it came in. The UPS driver was wondering if it was damaged, so he waited until I compared each spring. I'm building a homemade trailer and these should work well. I appreciate the quality of your products and old school consideration to your customers.

worked perfect

by:

The leaf springs are excellent however the bushings I bought with a 1/2 ID and 7/8 inch OD would not fit in the round end of the leaf springs. I went ahead and used the 9/16 ID ones that came already installed. You might want to check this yourself at the factory.

  • 1-3/4 Inch Slipper Spring That is 30 Inches Long and Over 2,500 lb Capacity
We have a couple of slipper springs that may work for you, as they are 1-3/4 inches wide, measure a total of 30 inches, and have the capacity you need. Springs do elongate over time, but you may have to have your brackets re-positioned if the 30 inch length isn't enough (this is the longest available for 1-3/4 inch or 2 inch springs). You will want to get a spring that is as close to your axle capacity as possible without going under it's capacity. - 2,900 lb Axle: 3-Leaf Slipper Spring...

  • Replacement for 32 Inch Long Slipper Spring
I may have a solution, but unfortunately we do not have a 32" long 4-leaf slipper spring. In addition to length, you also need the width and capacity when choosing replacement slipper springs. The leaf count doesn't matter. Assuming you're looking for 1-3/4" wide slipper springs for a 2,900 lb axle you may still be able to use the # e49SR. The length is measured from the center of the eye to the end of the slipper. This measures 30" long, but if your existing leaf springs are flat they...

  • Replacement Suspension For a Old Trailer With 32-1/4" Slipper Springs and 1-3/4" Axles
The longest 1-3/4" wide slipper spring we carry is 30" from the center eye hole to end of the flat slipper end. We have springs for 1,800lb # e29SR, 2,900lb # e49SR and 3,700lb # e89SR axles. With your axle diameter being 1-3/4" in diameter it likely is only a 2,000lb axle. All the springs above have a 15" length from center of eye to center of spring pack along the curve. The center of spring to end of spring along the curve is only 17-3/4". If this will not fit your application you...

  • Upgrading Boat Trailer Suspension For Highlander 16' Trailer For 2,000LB Boat
My first concern is determining the weight of your boat and trailer. It sounds like your trailer would have come with a 2,000lb axle as the Loadstar 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" Galvanized Wheel # AM30670 has a maximum weight rating of 990lbs per tire. If your boat is over the 2,000lbs this would explain why your axle and springs are damaged. I can help you find the suspension components needed to increase your weight capacity but you should check with the trailer manufacturer to...

  • Replacement Slipper Spring for 1986 Coleman Sequoia
The best option we have is the trailer leaf spring part # e49SR which is for a 2,900 lb trailer axle and has an overall length of 30 inches and is 1-3/4 inches wide. This might be a little longer than what you have now but since it has a straight end and not a curved end that shouldn't be an issue.

  • How To Properly Measure Slipper Springs For Your Trailer's Leaf Sping Suspension
To properly measure your leaf springs you'll want to lift the trailer by the frame to take the weight off of the suspension and then measure from the center of the eyelet straight across the spring to the end of the slipper (pictured below). From there you'll also need to know the capacity of the axle so that you can get a matching capacity leaf springs. Whenever you change out a leaf spring you'll want to change out both sides of the axle. If you really do have a 30" length then we have...

Nope, there is not any type of plastic wear bad to go between the 1-3/4" wide 3-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Flat End for 2,900-lb Trailer Axles - 30" Long # e49SR and trailer frame.

  • Where Should End of Slipper Spring Sit On Hanger on Single Axle Trailer
Yes, the end of a slipper spring like the # e49SR will be very close to the hanger bolt in the unloaded position. There is no exact distance or placement, but it needs to allow for full suspension travel once installed. If the hanger is near the end of the slipper spring the flat end will move through the hanger once it is loaded and the spring compresses. I have attached a helpful article on slipper spring trailer suspension for your reference.
