with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

by:

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

  • Transmission Cooler For 2007 Ford F150
You can indeed install a cooler like the # D52506 in place of the existing factory cooler, but you might consider installing it inline between the radiator and transmission as outlined in the help article I've provided. This will provide additional cooling which will work great because unless you live in a very cold climate, you really can't over cool a transmission. You'll need one of two fittings. Use kit # D13024 for vehicles with 1/2"-20 thread on trans line fitting, or use kit # D13025...

  • Transmission Cooler and Adapter Fitting for 2012 Ford Expedition
You have to measure inside diameter. In most cases the two sizes are 3/8 and 5/16 inch especially on a vehicle like yours. Instead of using those adapters though we have the part # D13025 which will fit in place of the fittings on your radiator to connect to the cooler lines of a cooler like the part # D13503 which would work great. The hose that comes with this is 5/16 inch.

  • Remote Mounted Transmission Cooler for 2002 Ford F250 with 7.3L Diesel
If you do not have the necessary space directly behind the grille, a remote mount cooler with a fan would be your best bet for maximum cooling efficiency. A stacked plate cooler/ fan combo like part # D13950 offers a good balance between performance and relatively small size. You will want to mount the cooler in a protected location that has sufficient air flow to allow the fan to push air through the cooler. Ideally, you want to see your transmission cooler temperature below 200 degrees. For...

  • Is Factory Transmission Cooler Bypassed With New Cooler Installed on a 2007 Ford F-150
No, when you install a transmission cooler, you are installing it as a supplemental system to assist the factory system. You would not want to bypass the factory cooler as that would not be nearly as beneficial, even if the new cooler is larger than the old one. The preferred method is to use the insta-dapt fitting at the radiator in the return line that takes fluid back to the transmission. Instead, you will have this line go to the inlet of the new cooler. The outlet will then be ran...

  • Transmission Cooler for 2000 Ford F-250 Towing Heavy 5th Wheel Trailer
Any fluid leaking from a vehicle is a warning. Often this indicates excessive temperatures in your transmission. If your transmission is stressed to the point of leaking fluid this means that somewhere either a seal, hose or other fitting is being pushed past its limit. My first suggestion is that you try to find that leakage point so you can check whether you have a bad seal or fitting that can be replaced. Driving your truck, let alone towing a trailer with it, with an inadequate trans...

  • Transmission Cooler and Pan Recommendations for Towing with a 2001 Ford Expedition 5.4 Liter
For your 2001 Ford Expedition with 5.4 L engine, I would recommend the largest cooler that will fit in front of the AC condenser at the front of the vehicle. The Derale Series 9000 Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13614, would be a good choice. You will also need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, item # D13025, to complete the installation on your 5.4 Liter Expedition. A larger capacity transmission pan would be a good idea also. If your Expedition has a 4R100 transmission...

  • Is Larger Transmission Pan Needed if Installing Supplemental Transmission Cooler on 2002 Ford F-350
No, you will not have to install a larger transmission pan if you added a supplemental transmission cooler though you may need to add more transmission fluid. This is because the core of the new cooler and the hose to add additional capacity. But a larger pan is not needed.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2013 Ford F-150 with 5.0 Liter
With transmission coolers you basically want to go with the largest one you can fit in front of the radiator. A very popular option is the part # D13504 which measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep and would be a great choice. To make the install as easy as possible you would want the part # D13025 which allows the cooler to install without having to cut or flare any lines. The cooler does not attach directly to brackets of your radiator, but with it's push pins it installs very easily.

  • Recommendation For Transmission Cooler on 2005 Ford Excursion 6.8L / V-10
I would strongly recommend to add an aftermarket transmission cooler to your 2005 Ford Excursion 6.8L vehicle to prevent any damage to your transmission. The ideal operating temperature range of your transmission fluid should be 160 to 200 degrees. Adding the cooler will not bypass the existing factory cooler which is located inside the radiator. Adding a cooler provides supplemental cooling to the your factory cooler. Transmission coolers are universal fit items. What you will need to...

  • Transmission Cooler Radiator Adapter Kit for 2007 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0 V6
The Derale Radiator Adapter kit # D13025 is intended to connect to 5/8-inch fittings in the radiator of your 2007 Mountaineer. These parts then allow hose connection to the supplementary cooler you're installing, such as Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13504. Please refer to the linked review video that shows this cooler installed. Please send along a photo of the harness end you are referring to and we can assist further.

  • Weight Distribution System For 1997 Mercury Mountaineer Towing Aspen Trail Trailer
I was able to find the owners manual for the 1997 Mercury Mountaineer and the 2-wheel drive can tow 6,700 lbs and the all-wheel drive can tow 6,500 lbs. Since the dry weight of the trailer is 4300 lbs more than likely you will be right at the towing capacity of the Mountaineer when the trailer is loaded. Because you are close to your towing capacity of the Mountaineer I definetly recommend a weight distribution system but the Curt Weight Distribution System with Shank - Pin-Style Trunnion...

  • Do Transmission Coolers Install the Same Way on Every Vehicle
Transmission cooler installations are not vehicle specific because transmission coolers themselves are not vehicle specific so they general way they install will be the same. What is different is where you may need to mount the cooler, whether or not you will have to cut and flare lines, and what you might need to move out of the way to install the cooler in the most efficient place. All of these things are different from vehicle to vehicle. The path of the transmission fluid should be...

  • Can 2009 Ford F350 With 9300lb Tow Capacity Safely Pull 8100 lb Travel Trailer
Towing capacity, payload and tongue weight are not the same, but are closely related. Towing capacity is pretty self explanatory. It's the maximum trailer weight a vehicle can pull. This can vary according to how the truck is configured and equipped. Payload is the amount of cargo a truck can carry, typically in the bed of the truck. The truck's payload will be reduced by the amount of tongue weight applied by the trailer, as you suspected but the tongue weight won't be deducted from...

  • What Additional Parts Are Needed to Install Derale Transmission Cooler on 2011 Ford F-150
You are correct! The Derale # D13504 is a confirmed fit on your 2011 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L engine and you will need to use the # D13025 fitting to complete the installation, but that's the only additional part you need.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation For 2013 Ford F-150
When it comes to transmission coolers, you will want to use the largest cooler that will fit in the space in front of the radiator. Of the three styles of transmission coolers, stacked plate coolers are the most efficient. If you have the room, I recommend a cooler like the Derale Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler # D13402. • Important Temperatures to Monitor When Towing and How to Lower the Temperatures If Needed
The key temperatures to monitor when towing are the transmission fluid, engine oil and coolant temperatures. Each of these fluids will have different ranges that you will want to stay within. For transmission fluid, the ideal operating temperature is between 160 and 200 degrees. If you find that you are running over 200 degrees, I would recommend installing a supplemental transmission cooler, like part # D13504, if you do not already have one. Using a supplemental cooler in place of your factory cooler in your 2003 Ford F-250 is a huge benefit, however, ideally you will want to run both your factory and also a supplemental cooler for optimum performance. Supplemental transmission coolers also work better than coolers that are integrated into your radiator system. My research shows that the transmission cooler in your truck is located below the radiator which typically gets a lot hotter and does not cool as well as a supplemental...

You will need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury, # D13025, which will allow you to connect to the return line of the factory transmission cooler. Part # D13025 allows you to connect to transmission return line without flaring the line when installing on your 1999 Ford F-250 Powerstroke. • DIY Installation of Transmission Cooler for 2006 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty
Yes, the transmission cooler is a fairly easy-do- it-yourself installation. For your 2006 Ford F-250 or F-350 with a 5.4 liter engine, you can purchase the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13025 to ease installation. This way you can avoid cutting the original transmission line and flaring the cut ends. For an at-home installation I would allow 2-1/2 to 3 hours or more for the installation. Before ordering you should measure the available space in front of your radiator or air conditioning...

The biggest one you can fit will be your best option. The part # D13502 measures 11" Wide x 7-1/4" tall x 7/8" deep. If that's the biggest you can fit then I'd go with this one.
