with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

by:

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

Just what I needed.Got it in a couple of days.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2001 Ford Excursion
Generally speaking, you'll want to choose the largest cooler that will fit in the available space right behind the vehicle grille. For an Excursion, there won't be any problem with available space. The only caution about going with too large of a cooler is that it could lengthen the amount of time it takes for the vehicle to warm up in a cold climate. The Derale # D13504 would be an very good choice. It's 11 x 12 inch size would provide plenty of supplemental cooling to protect your transmission....

  • Recommendation of Transmission Cooler For 2002 Ford Expedition 5.4L Towing a Horse Trailer
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, they are universal and we put together some options on our website that are recommended for your 2002 Ford Expedition with 5.4 L engine with other parts that are needed for installation. This does not mean that other transmission coolers can not work, it just gives a guideline for somebody that is shopping for a transmission cooler. Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as...

  • Is Factory Transmission Cooler Bypassed With New Cooler Installed on a 2007 Ford F-150
No, when you install a transmission cooler, you are installing it as a supplemental system to assist the factory system. You would not want to bypass the factory cooler as that would not be nearly as beneficial, even if the new cooler is larger than the old one. The preferred method is to use the insta-dapt fitting at the radiator in the return line that takes fluid back to the transmission. Instead, you will have this line go to the inlet of the new cooler. The outlet will then be ran...

  • Transmission Cooler For 2005 Ford F-150 With 5.4 Liter Engine
I show that the transmission used on your 2005 Ford F-150 5.4 liter engine is the 4R75E transmission. I have a transmission cooler that will work on your vehicle, but the Derale Transmission Pan Cooler, part # D14208, that you have referenced, will not fit your transmission. For a transmission cooler on your 2005 Ford F-150 5.4 liter engine I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler, part # D13503. This would be an excellent choice for your vehicle and will install in...

If your 1998 Ford Explorer does not currently have heated mirrors you would not gain that feature by getting the CIPA Mirrors part numbers # CM43312 and # CM43313. Like you suspected it uses a factory connection that will not be present on vehicles without heated factory mirrors. If you have electric mirrors without heat you would want CIPA Mirrors # CM42195 and # CM42095. Adding an additional transmission cooler would be an excellent idea for you. Heat is the number 1 enemy to transmissions...

There are two different options for your 2010 Ford F-150 for adapter fittings to use with the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13504. Using a different adapter size is not going to cause any issues, and you are going to need to know the size of your fittings, or measure to determine due to there being two potential options for your 2010 F-150: - 1/2"-20 Thread: Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford and Lincoln # D13024 - 5/8"-18 Thread: Derale Radiator Adapter...

  • Is it Better to Replace Existing Transmission Cooler or Add Derale Auxiliary Cooler 2003 Ford F-250
Using a supplemental cooler in place of your factory cooler in your 2003 Ford F-250 is a huge benefit, however, ideally you will want to run both your factory and also a supplemental cooler for optimum performance. Supplemental transmission coolers also work better than coolers that are integrated into your radiator system. My research shows that the transmission cooler in your truck is located below the radiator which typically gets a lot hotter and does not cool as well as a supplemental...

  • 1/2 Inch Hose Barb Fitting to Install Transmission Cooler on a 2005 Ford Expedition
We have a 1/2 inch compression fitting to go from 1/2 inch line to 1/2 inch NPT barb # D13033. I would actually have the flow go from the transmission, to the factory cooler in the radiator, then from there to the other cooler, and then to the Derale cooler before going back to the transmission. This is the normal way to install a supplemental cooler (at the end of the line). The fitting we have listed for the 2005 Ford Expedition is # D13025 which are 5/8 inch inverted flare fittings.

The Derale Transmission Cooler # D13612 will install after the radiator of your 2010 Ford F-150. You'll need to find the return line which will be the cooler of the transmission lines when the engine is warmed up. If you have 5/8 inches-18 transmission line fittings you would use the Transmission Cooler Fitting, # D13025. If you have the 1/2 inches-20 transmission line fittings you would use Transmission Cooler Fitting, # D13024.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for a 2000 Ford F-250 7.3L V8 Diesel
The 180 degrees you are seeing actually isn't a bad temperature and your pickup should be fine, but adding another cooler wouldn't hurt anything. For a secondary cooler on your 2000 Ford F-250 with the 7.3L V8 Diesel engine I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV # D13504 with the Adapter Fitting # D13025 which is going to be the most effective option for you. If you are looking for the best transmission cooler available for your 2010 Ford F-150, I suggest the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV # D13504. This 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep, efficient heat exchanger will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance, though it is specifically designed for vehicles with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions. • Derale Transmission Cooler for 2003 Ford Explorer Towing 3200-lb Boat Trailer
Generally the priority for cooling fluids in a tow vehicle is engine oil first, followed by transmission fluid, and then power steering fluid, if desired. Coolers like the Derale # D13504 are not fluid-specific; this cooler can be used for engine oil or transmission fluid. Coolers are also not vehicle-specific; you can use the largest cooler that will fit the space available for mounting one. Since you are planning to use a deep-pan tranny cooler I suggest you consider adding an engine...

  • Important Temperatures to Monitor When Towing and How to Lower the Temperatures If Needed
The key temperatures to monitor when towing are the transmission fluid, engine oil and coolant temperatures. Each of these fluids will have different ranges that you will want to stay within. For transmission fluid, the ideal operating temperature is between 160 and 200 degrees. If you find that you are running over 200 degrees, I would recommend installing a supplemental transmission cooler, like part # D13504, if you do not already have one. • How to Add Transmission Fluid After Installing Transmission Cooler on a 2003 Ford Explorer
I wasn't sure why your transmission fluid can only be filled by a dealer. Your 2003 Ford Explorer uses one of two possible automatic transmissions used on Ford Explorers from 1997 to 2010 and a lot of other vehicles within that same time frame. So I checked the owners manual and found out that it doesn't have a dip stick to check the fluid so you would not be able to add any.
