For your 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed we recommend using a slider hitch. I recommend the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider Item # BWRVK3270 and the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails Item # BWRVK2503. B&W are well known for the quality of their hitches. It has much thicker steel than other brands. The articulating head sits on durable rubber pads so it does not rattle as others do when not in use. Due to the bed being 6-1/2 foot, the slide feature allows you to move the nose of the camper back away from the truck cab when making 90 degree turns.

Since you will be hauling a fifth wheel camper, I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness Item # C56070. This will provide you a 7 pole plug in the bed of the truck so you don't have to drape the cable over the tailgate to plug in to your 7 pole at the bumper. I provided a link to the instillation. It is on a 207 2500, but the instillation will be the same.
