Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

This replaced the beat-up hub assembly on my livestock trailer perfectly. This assembly was a breath of fresh air after scouring the internet for any hubs using 3/4" outer bearings and 1.25" inner bearings. The assembly of this was very simple and made with nice tight tolerances. I used a new spacer washer and reused the hub nut capped with a 3/4" hub buddy instead of the dust cap. This setup handled well since I drove an hour and a half on the highway right after installation without needing to stop and the hub was cool to the touch when I arrived at my destination.

by:

First I would like to say that in my opinion the replacement hub is much better than the original because it is made from a solid casting, as opposed the the 3 piece original. Everything was machined well and fit exactly as expected. Not only would I recommend this product but I have to say that just as important as the product is the customer service. Your representative Kate took the time to help me with gathering the information we needed so that she could then search to locate the assembly I needed. She was confident that it would be the correct one and she was right.

Although I haven't really towed yet. The ease of the installation was great

by:

Fantastic service. I purchased a pair of trailer hubs, and was contacted regarding potentially getting ones that were not only in stock but also cheaper. We confirmed the hub requirements against the existing spindle and found that the originals were the ones I required, but it was great to have said confirmation.

The only miss was the hub nut caps that came with the kit are too shallow for my application, but I have an oddball spindle and my old ones worked so no big deal.

by:

Received 3 races and only one bearing with this hub and the seal was damaged in shipping as there was no packaging in the box with the parts.

  • Availability of Trailer Hub with 1-1/4 Inch Inner Bearing and 3/4 Inch Outer Bearing
It sounds like the hubs on your trailer use the # LM67048 inner bearing (1.250 inch inner diameter) and the # LM11949 outer bearing (0.750 inner diameter). The only hub we have available that uses these bearings and features a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern is the Trailer Hub Assembly # DX22XR. Please note though that this particular hub has a weight capacity of 1,250 pounds so it is designed for 2,500 pound axles. If you use this to replace the hubs on your trailer your axle capacity will...

  • Hub Recommendation for Trailer Spindle that Measures 1.25 and .75 inches
It sounds like you are in need of an agricultural hub like the part # AH15450ECOMP that has a diameter of .75 where the inner bearing rides and 1.25 inches where the outer bearing rides. This hub has a 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern so if you needed one with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern you would want the part # DX22XR.

  • Trailer Hub Recommendation for Spindle with Diameters of .75 and 1.25 inches

We do have a hub that is compatible with a 12 inch wheel and has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. The Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles # DX22XR does have the outer bearing # LM11949 which has the 0.750 measurement that you took but you will want to make sure that the inner bearing # LM67048 fits (inner diameter is 1.250 inches) and the grease seal inner diameter of 1.688 inches is compatible with your spindle. • Replacement Hub Assembly For A Light Duty Snowmobile Trailer
I am afraid we do not carry any hubs that will fit your parameters. The .75" ID bearing is highly uncommon these days. We carry only one hub that uses a .75" Bearing with part # DX22XR. The problem with this is that the inner bearing for this hub is a 1.25" ID, so this will not work for your application. As far as the seal, the closest seal we have to the 14848 seal is our Grease Seal # 10-9. This grease seal has the same 1.5" inner diameter but is slightly smaller at 1.987" outer diameter...

  • How to Find the Capacity of a Trailer Hub to See if it Fits a 3,500 Pound Axle
If your old hubs have any numbers on them you could tell me what they are and I might be able to figure it out that way. Or if you still have the bearings let me know what the bearing numbers are that are stamped into the sides of the bearings. A straight spindle with a 1 inch diameter or 1-1/16 inch diameter generally will be associated with 2,000 to 2,700 pound axles though so chances are they will not be an appropriate fit for a 3,500 pound axle. A 3,500 pound axle almost always takes...

  • Could Trailer with Hub Bearings LM67048 and 11947 be Converted to Disc Brakes
What you could do is install the hubs that fit your spindle part # DX22XR and then use a slip on style disc brake kit that matches the bolt pattern of these hubs 5 on 4-1/2 inches like the # K2R35D which will bolt up to the same brake mounting flange you have now and give you a Dacromet set of brakes that will fit well.

  • Axle-Less Trailer Suspension Kit to Provide Increased Ground Clearance on Older Horse Trailer
The first thing you want to do as you plan updating components on your trailer is confirm the trailer's gross weight rating (GVWR) and its axle weight rating. These matter to both hub/drum and brake selection. The Rice Richardson horse trailers I found online were smaller tandem (dual axle) types and appear to have been made in the UK. Updating the axle will typically be your best bet for the long term. There are available bolt-on axle-less trailer suspension kits from Timbren that provide...
